Ramblings of a Housewife: September 2014
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Friday, September 12, 2014. For years now, when visiting the Lakes, I'd wanted to visit Grizedale Forest. The problem is there are so many other things to do, fells to climb, bikes to ride.that we just kept putting it off until 'next time'. I started to think we'd never actually go. I was finally getting to go to Grizedale! It's a really nice place; ample car-parking, great cafe plus gift shop, toilets etc. There's even a pretty little tarn. Links to this post. Our first fell wa...

Ramblings of a Housewife: February 2014

Ramblings of a Housewife. Saturday, February 15, 2014. Recently I had a discount voucher for Hobbycraft, we don't actually have one locally so I normally use their website. Certain things though I really like to see 'in the flesh', I had my eye on some such things, our nearest stores being either Hull or Sheffield, and we decided to go to Hull. Like every day recently it was pouring with rain, but luckily, after I'd finished shopping and we'd had a bit of lunch, the rain stopped. Of course, with both of ...

Ramblings of a Housewife: June 2014
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Monday, June 30, 2014. King Of The Castle. A year or so ago Graham and I had been driving through North Wales when I spotted a sign for Colomendy. I knew I'd heard the name before and soon remembered where. During World War II my dad had been evacuated from Liverpool, along with his younger brother, and after being moved around various places they'd ended up at Colomendy. We decided, after a chat with my mum, to arrange it anyway. Top left did not exist then. We drove from Liver...

Ramblings of a Housewife: July 2014
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Thursday, July 17, 2014. Graham wanted to get some shots of the local loch on our last morning in Scotland. He got eaten alive in the process, darn midges, in fact both of us came home with loads of bites. Lucky it was just the insects biting - while we'd been out walking I'd seen my first ever outdoor snake! I've obviously seen snakes before in zoos etc but never just seen one 'in the wild', I thought it was a twig until it started moving. Not long after this it poured. We were...

Ramblings of a Housewife: August 2014
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Saturday, August 23, 2014. Thought I'd share my last few dyed pieces (think I might have already shown one on my craft blog but I know some people only read one or the other and not both blogs). If I know I'm dyeing I usually throw in a plain white cotton vest, they're only £3 in Matalan, they dye well but the stitching remains white. This is the top I have in brown and also pink, they were from Fat Face and I knew they'd done a white version so tracked one down off Ebay. It...

Ramblings of a Housewife: December 2013
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Thursday, December 19, 2013. Okay so there are way. Too many photographs here but I'm not going to apologise for that. How could I delete any of these cuties? These pics were actually taken last November but I never got round to blogging them. The place is Donna Noo. K, on the Lincolnshire coast, it's about half an hour from where we live. The land is partly used by the MOD for bombing practice but every year the seals arrive here. This seal pup still has its cord attached.

Ramblings of a Housewife: Newlands Horseshoe
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2014/09/newlands-horseshoe.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Friday, September 12, 2014. I think I'm still traumatised by this walk. Never again. We actually woke up at 5.30am, hoping to get started around 7.30am to beat the crowds. Our first fell was Catbells. We've been up here before and know it gets very busy - Wainwright described it as a 'family fell' popular with kids and grannies. Well I don't know about anyone else's grannies but no way would either of mine had trudged up here for fun! Well that wasn't too difficult". In fact it ...

Ramblings of a Housewife: October 2013
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Friday, October 25, 2013. Well Graham had planned walks for just about every day of our week in North Yorks and every day it poured it down. The day before we were due to return home we woke up to a light drizzle and so he insisted we got our boots on and attempt to climb Ingleborough, the highest of the three peaks. Have to say I would have been happy to stay in and read! Our route started about seven miles away from our accommodation, the small village of Clapham. Eventually, ...

Ramblings of a Housewife: November 2013
http://ramblingsofahousewife.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Ramblings of a Housewife. Sunday, November 24, 2013. We only managed to get one walk in during our week away (not counting strolling into Keswick every day) because anything too strenuous was painful for me. Fortunately though I could cycle without any problems. We have walked along the railway line a year or so ago, it was on the way to climb Latrigg. This time our destination was Threkeld, a village about five miles away. There is an excellent pub in the village called the Horse and Farrier Inn. The fo...
