100 Lakes on Vancouver Island. A tour of lakes on Vancouver Island from the perspective of a canoeist who loves wetlands, quiet remote settings, and natural beauty. Sunday, 3 August 2014. Sanborn Paddle Review - Custom Built Borealis. Back in the beginning of June Paul and I tried out two canoes at Alberni Outpost. Saltwater kayak fisherman: Rigging the Lowrance HDS7 onto a 2015 Hobie Outback
http://www.saltwaterkayakfisherman.com/2015/08/rigging-lowrance-hds7-onto-outback.html
Rigging the Lowrance HDS7 onto a 2015 Hobie Outback. I’d previously used the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI on my older Outback. Though with the arrival of the 2015 model Outback I was going to upgrade the electronics fit to the new Lowrance HDS7. Now that I’ve used a large screen for quite some time, I’d not willingly return to a small screen unit. That said, I’d not really want to go larger than 7”. Well here’s the finished product. As mentioned I’ve experience of this sized unit on an Outback. There’s a w...

Fly Fishing DIY Addicted #glassisnotdead | Adventures in Brown Lining
https://mrbrownliner.wordpress.com/2014/12/30/fly-fishing-diy-addicted-glassisnotdead
Chronicles of an Urban Fly Fishing Addict. December 30, 2014. Fly Fishing DIY Addicted #glassisnotdead. So I am not sure what has got into me lately but over the past year I seem to be obsessed with building rather than buying. Perhaps I am getting in touch with my inner frontiersman? Whether it is my home renovations or my fly fishing I cannot get this vintage, repurposing, build it yourself mentality out of my mind. I think that was my leaping off point. Yes, go big or go home! The blank is a Blue Halo.

Feed Fish Flies: Try This Fly for Early Winter Hatchery Steelhead
http://creeksideangling.blogspot.com/2012/11/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none.html
Your Daily(ish) Dose of Creekside. Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Try This Fly for Early Winter Hatchery Steelhead. Mass Effect Egg Pattern. Now let me preface this by saying that I love to swing flies for steelhead. I log most of my river hours during the winter with a spey rod in hand, and spend even more hours back home at the vise dreaming up various big, wiggly steelhead bugs to throw in the ditch. Equal parts orange, chartreuse and cerise egg yarn, in that order. Tied in Glo Bug. Save Our Wild Salmon.

Passinthru Outdoors: The Eastern Bluebird and Nest Boxes
http://passinthruoutdoors.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-eastern-bluebird-and-nest-boxes.html
Mar 8, 2015. The Eastern Bluebird and Nest Boxes. Well we still have 3 to 4 feet of snow still on the ground here in Northeast Connecticut but the day time temps are finally starting to climb. According to the calendar spring is just 2 weeks away but I think we might be battling snow and ice for a few weeks after that. But there is hope, especially when I get new visitors to my backyard like the Eastern Bluebird. Taken March 2015 at my feeder. Has a downloadable set of Bluebird nesting box plans. Februar...

We hiked about a mile back in to one of our favorite scenic and moose places and caught the golden light of early morning on the mountain. Shortly after the golden light disappeared-we had a beautiful reflection of the mountain in the pond.
