Flour Girl: February 2010
http://flourgirlbaking.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Random thoughts and anecdotes from my little world of baking. Thursday, February 11, 2010. Transitions Are Highly Overrated. Once in Fiction Writing class in college, I titled a short story "Titles Are Highly Overrated." (True story. My good-natured professor gave me an A on the paper- as well as a book on improving one's title-writing skills.). As you might imagine, this is hard. Very hard. Please, please do not quote me on this.). And that Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird? This past week ...

Random thoughts and anecdotes from my little world of baking. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Some things in life are sadly underappreciated. Bowls, for instance. Never, ever have I heard anyone gush, "Man. Or "That's the best thing since. Vanilla gets a raw deal with the whole "just vanilla" and "plain old vanilla" thing. It's sort of gotten the reputation for being more the. Of other flavor(s) than a flavor itself, I think. Which is unfortunate. So This recipe is modified from this site. 2 tsp baking powder.

Random thoughts and anecdotes from my little world of baking. Saturday, April 9, 2011. A Cheery Cherry Kind of Birthday. Sometimes my cupcakes are a backward sort of affair, inspiration-wise. These little guys were the result of two things: (1) my friend Diana's birthday and (2) a set of Mary Englebreit cupcake boxes I bought forever ago and haven't had a chance to use. Here are the toppers themselves:. Boxed up and ready to go! Mary E., you inspire me. (Now could your boxes just be cheaper, hm?

Flour Girl: November 2010
http://flourgirlbaking.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Random thoughts and anecdotes from my little world of baking. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Things of which my conscience doth approve. There are certain things about my childhood that I find absolutely terrific. For instance, these costumes. (How cute are we? Don't get me wrong; I like oatmeal a lot. I actually discovered that fact when I had it for the first time, in college. Yeah, college; no lie. That was the same year that I discovered bran flakes, Brussels. Now, my own as-yet-nonexistent children n...

I start with materialism because it is the easiest to see. I surround myself with stuff, I want stuff, I buy stuff, and I throw away more stuff in a day than six Cambodians put together. [1]. What if someone took all my stuff? Would I be upset? Yes I would be. What if I was asked to give it all away? Would it be hard? I would argue ...

Grasping the Cross -]. 8230;for by grace you have been and are saved. JC Ryle on Jellyfish. Dislike of dogma is an epidemic which is just now doing great harm, and especially among young people. . . . It produces what I must venture to call . . . a jelly-fish Christianity . . . a Christianity without bone, or muscle, or power. . . . Alas! It is a type of much of the religion of this day, of which the leading principle is, no dogma, no distinct tenets, no positive doctrine. Feed You can leave a response.

Flour Girl
My Knead to Become a Baker. FG has always been a fan of savory over sweet, especially for breakfast. Adding turkey sausage to the muffins doesn't count as rogue behavior by FG either! The rest of the recipe was ...

Flour Girl At Home. Friday, March 8, 2013. Spring has not sprung in Boston. Do you know what I did this beautiful March morning? I put on my fleece pants, a thermal shirt with a wool sweater, my bogs boots, down filled wool coat, super sized scarf, gloves, hat/facemask combination, and ski goggles. Off on a mountain adventure? Off to walk the dog, more or less on the beach. That wind that has me dreading the morning as I hear it roar through the night, has no ability to go through goggles. I can see!
