The history of Lithops. The first recorded account of a Lithops was by William Burchell (see Figure 01). In 1811. He discovered the plant on the 14th of September of that year, south east of Prieska. Friday, August 22, 2008. Is probably the most common houseplant of all the succulents. It's also known as Friendship Tree. I've heard people call it Money Tree. But that plant is actually Pachira aquatica. Have rich green leaves and are great for creating an indoor bonzai. I got mine from a friend whose plant is over four feet tall. I pulled out all of my Lithops for the first time today after a long winter. The become dormant and die off and a new plant emerges out of the center. The hard part is not watering them. Welcome to the web home of the flowering stones. What is a Lithops? A Lithops is a plant which consists of two opposite leaves which are fused together along the outer edges, so as to form an obconic, turbiniform (top-shaped) body. This body is divided into two more or less equal halves or lobes, which are fused together along their outer edge to a depth of 1-4 mm. A thin line of adhesion closes the fissure across the top.
