Steak and Ale Pie. Picture of the dish. 2 Cloves of Garlic. 3 Beef Stock Cubes. 1 Vegetable Stock Cube. Chopping Boards and Knives. Picture of the dish. Pre-heat oven to 170 C. Roughly chop the onion. Peel the carrots and slice into discs. Crush the cloves of garlic. Strip any large portions of fat from the steak. Cut the steak into good-sized chunks. Heat oil in the pan and fry the onion and garlic for 1 minute. Add the steak to the pan and cook until the meat is seared all-over (no pink showing).

200g Soft Brown Sugar. 550ml (1 pint) Milk (Full Cream). Saucepan to use as bain-marie with above. Mix sugar and egg yolks in heat-proof bowl. Add coffee and milk. Cook the mixture over the bain-marie until it thickens. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature and then place in fridge to cool to 5 C. Generic batter to coat fruit (e.g. apple / banana / pineapple) and deep fry. To coat roughly 1 large cooking apple. 100-150ml Liquid (e.g. cider / fizzy water / water / etc). A fruit (or several) of your choice (e.g. apple / banana / pineapple). Knife and Chopping Board. Pre-heat the deep fat fryer to 180-190 c. Sift the flour, sugar and cinnamon into a large bowl. Mix in the liquid bit by bit, aiming for a wallpaper-paste type consistency. Apple and pineapple both make good rings.
