Towards the end of Autumn, I wasn’t sure how to feel about the impeding Tennessee arctic tundra that many people had expected to be the “worst winter ever.” I thought to myself “how am I supposed to fish? 8221; How was I going to spend several months with my fly rod and gear sitting in the corner of my room, untouched? I loved the beautiful spots on this brown! A lot of people are really into using streamers for fishing, but I usually have more fun when I use dry flies and droppers.

So, when you first start fly fishing everything can be super confusing. What type of rod/reel do you get? A lot of things can be hard to figure out at first. And don’t even start with the fly fishing jargon that some of us still don’t understand half of the time! Fly rod (Scott S4 9′ 5 weight). Fly reel (Lamson Liquid 2).
