UWO ML.I.S. Life as a LIS professional. Libraries and the age of Trump. Ok, so the only thing on the news, social media and in the office is how trump won and everyone is screwed. I personally think everyone is overeating and the problems of the American people, that have been there for quite some time, are finally at the forefront. Time to deal with your issues America. UWO ML.I.S. Life as a LIS professional. CEO: Feel the power! Well….hold that thought for a minute. I have recently been made CEO/Head Librarian for the Laurentian Hills Public Library. I admit it is alot of work and responsibility, but after being guided by the former CEO’s of the Library and reading up on the OLBA website about the actual responsibilities of the CEO, this job is not as scarry as it first seemed. UWO ML.I.S. Life as a LIS professional. The Pacifist movement: Anti-violence going too far in education and literature. So, I had an interesting experience last week. Has anyone ever had a problem with Eric Carle being violent in his books? So anybody see any violence? Just because something might imply violence (Hey wanna fight? Personally I would like to see more advocacy for violence resolution in schools, libraries, etc. Maybe we could educate the teachers and their generation that they can’...

UWO ML.I.S. Life as a LIS professional. A response to: Where are the books? So while perusing linked in I found a link to an article that is very alarmist, claiming in the opening sentence that “The hallmark of public libraries the printed book, bound by covers and centuries of page-turning is being shoved aside by digital doppelgangers.”. To read the entire article:. Are ebooks really that affordable? Is an e-book or ereader really more reliable than the physical book? Where are the books? July 27, 2015.

UWO ML.I.S. Life as a LIS professional. In response to “Librarianship as non-functional profession” on Linkedin. So I came across a post on LinkedIn called Librarianship as non-functional profession. After reading the question I was so fired up I decided to write a blog post about it. Here is the question:. What can you say about the people saying that librarians will be no longer needed because of the advent of Google or Internet Searching? Here is my response(to part one of that question):.
