We do have to spend our allotment before the budget year ends, so that will drive some of the improvements. The public works department assures us that the new air conditioner we purchased for the building will be installed any day now. Friday, May 16, 2008. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. And it was awful to think that some of them (us) could be in jeopardy. Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

We had worried that we'd lost our major tourist draw in the downtown area, and that was a bummer. But it turns out, they are working hard to get back into the charter boat service as quickly as they can. Friday, April 18, 2008. We were concerned that the 5K may have some obstacles this year due to the marina construction, but it looks like the course is going to be fine. Once again, Bill Shaw is running the course to make sure it's good to go. What would we do without him? As usual, volunteers are going to be tight. This year, we have hired a group to time the race for us, Run Wild Sports Timing, so that will hopefully eliminate a lot of the headaches. Come on out and join us. We FEED you breakfast!

Freeport Main Street: The new marina

Tuesday, April 15, 2008. The new marina project is advancing. slowly, but surely. The dry stack storage building has been built, and though it is not pretty, we can hope that the developer will feel some motivation to improve its aesthetic appeal. The bulkheading is going in along the riverfront. This is a little worrisome, considering that our Flapjack Race, set for April 26th, runs right along this waterfront.
