We offer both verbal and typewritten appraisals of firearms. We do appraisals for insurance purposes, to assist estate values, or for the customer’s knowledge. We would like customers to know that most homeowner’s insurance companies do not cover the value of firearms unless they have typewritten appraisals. Appraisals can be done for one gun or for entire collections, whatever is needed by the customer. For very large collections, we are able to come to you (please call for appointment).

Proper stock length is assessed and discussed with the customer before any installation. We use Pachmayr recoil pads, which are made in the United States. Regular recoil pads are the Pachmayr 250 and 325 series. Also, made by Pachmayr is the ‘Decelerator’, by far the most popular we install because of its’ superior recoil reduction and clean appearance. Also available are the Old English, Terminator and Limbsaver pads. For the customer seeking authenticity we have Browning Imprinted Pads.

Freer Gun Shop is known for the detail provided to firearms needing cleaning. Each gun is taken down to its’ smallest part, completely inspected and cleaned with solvent and burnishing by hand. Each part is checked according to factory specifications for wear or breakage, with replacements performed as needed. When advised of any mechanical malfunction, many of them are found during our inspection and can best be corrected during the cleaning process. Problems with the site?
