Talking Game: February 2015
http://www.gamethyme.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Short post this week - there are some things going on at my day job that are drawing an inordinate amount of my energy and focus. I'm getting ready to run a Legend of the Five Rings. I'm starting with the basic questions - "What Clan(s) are you most interested in? Which Clan(s) do you most dislike? Adding to this, I'm going to be using my (experimental) Winter Phase. The l...

Talking Game: Day Two
http://www.gamethyme.com/2015/07/day-two.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Friday, July 31, 2015. Still here. Still alive. Still loving it. I was right about Metal Adventures. I think. It's not a bad game, but it has a narrow target audience and it's a difficult game to demo because there are a ton of things you need to explain before game start. Continues to be (IMHO) the best game in the booth. Met a handful more people in person for the first time. In the past five years.

Talking Game: What? No Post Yesterday?
http://www.gamethyme.com/2015/08/what-no-post-yesterday.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Sunday, August 02, 2015. Got back to the room crazy-late. Shot some video (with my phone) of the exhibit hall doors opening to the public. Much crazy ensued. I'll upload that video when we get home. Too tired/incoherent right now. Either way: We are awesome. One more day. Then teardown tonight and a team dinner. And then we all go our separate ways. Until next year. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Talking Game: January 2015
http://www.gamethyme.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Saturday, January 31, 2015. This is a bit rambly, and I'm sorry. My original somehow disappeared when posting last week's post, so it's re-written from notes and not as edited as I like to be. It's this solo part of the hobby that I suspect is responsible for the reputation that the rest of the hobby has been painted with. It applies less. I've participated in and run tournaments for a very long time&#...

Talking Game: March 2015
http://www.gamethyme.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. So a few weeks back, I mentioned Star Realms. As a game I'd played. It's a game I've played both in person and online via their app. It's a game I like. But it's no Dominion. Several of my friends have told me that Star Realms. Is their favorite deckbuilder - and I just don't understand that. Scouts give you one trade (money). Vipers give you one attack. Cards in the trade li...

Talking Game: November 2014
http://www.gamethyme.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Wherein Eric discusses Games, the Game Industry, Gamer Culture and anything else which catches his eye. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. When The Fun Stops. Something I'm learning more and more: When you work on a thing - even a fun thing - it runs the risk of Not Being Fun Anymore. And, when that happens, you need to just walk away. Not necessarily forever - just until the thing is fun again. That L5R Generational rules set I'd been working on? Walking away for a few months was all I needed to do. Writing ...
