Saturday, August 22, 2009. Review of Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside The Lines. I recently read the book: Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines: Patterns, Stories, Pictures, True Confessions, Tricky Bits, Whole New Worlds, and Familiar Ones, Too. By Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne, the authors of the popular knitting blog: Mason-Dixon Knitting. This may save you lots of time and annoyance.) The patterns I found tempting were Belinda. KnittingKel: Duck two ways...
http://knittingkel.blogspot.com/2009/08/duck-two-ways.html
Thursday, August 20, 2009. Lately I have been knitting a lot of toys. And these toys have all been from the book World of Knitted Toys. For the ducks, I made one duck the way the pattern called for, and then I made another using DPNs. I decided that knitting it in the round would be a good way for me to avoid sewing up the seams. It was and I preferred knitting it this way. Using the magic loop method would probably work too, but I actually prefer using DPNs. Which duck do you prefer? Groundpat'i - Metai...

yoelknits: NOLA
http://yoelknits.blogspot.com/2012/05/wow-its-been-while-it-has-been-crazy.html
Knitting patterns and adventures. Thursday, May 10, 2012. Wow, it's been a while! It has been a crazy couple of months, crazy enough to miss the annual knit crochet blogger week. And bad enough to not really knit at all. Seriously, no WIPs or FOs at all to show today. Part of the busi-ness is the rush of scientific conferences during the spring. Thanks to some strategic planning, I got to visit another LYS between boring lectures, this time in New Orleans. Garden District Needlework Shop. I really like y...

Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Double Pointed Needles (DPNs). The double pointed needle is probably one of the most intimidating knitting tools. So, what are DPN's used for? KnittingKel: Tutorial: The Yarn Over
http://knittingkel.blogspot.com/2008/07/tutorial-yarn-over.html
Thursday, July 10, 2008. Tutorial: The Yarn Over. Yarn Overs are used in knitting to increase the number of stitches and to make holes in the knitted fabric. Yarn overs are very useful in lace knitting. Yarn overs are very easy. Like their name suggests, you just put the yarn over the needle. When I was first learning to knit, I was a little intimidated by them. Step 2: Knit the next stitch like you normally would. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). KnittingKel: The Knit Stitch
http://knittingkel.blogspot.com/2008/05/knit-stitch.html
Thursday, June 12, 2008. As I mentioned in my first entry, the first thing my Grandma told me about knitting is that there are only two stitches, the knit and purl. Then she explained that the knit and purl stitch are the two sides of the same stitch. The pictures below show two sides of the same swatch. As you can see, the knit stitch looks like a bunch of little V's and the purl stitch looks like a bunch of -'s put together. I'm sure most of you have seen this when looking at sweaters. Turn your work&#...

KnittingKel: The Purl Stitch
http://knittingkel.blogspot.com/2008/07/purl-stitch.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Here is a step by step guide to the purl stitch. The video is below. As with the knit stitch, you'll need a cast on row or a row of knit and/or purls. When referring to the needle with all of the stitches already on it, I'll call it the populated needle and the other needle will be referred to as the empty needle. Step 1. Hold the needles with your cast on/knitted/purled stitches from your previous row in your left hand. The empty needle on your right hand. Here is the video:.

How to Survive in Subtropical 'Paradise': December 2007
http://subtropicalparadise.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 29, 2007. The Bangles Greatest Hits. Christmas is over. The tree is down. Presents are all unwrapped. So before the excitement of New Year's Eve sets in, I thought I'd go through a rundown of all the Christmas crafts I couldn't blog about earlier for obvious reasons. First up are the bangles. I made two each for my sister and two friends. I got the idea from. And I had previously made. And the darker one is a lace hearts stitch from VK:. Mmmm, don't they look tasty! Off to the races.
