Gardening Canberra: December 2010

http://gardeningcanberra.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 16, 2010. Santa Rosa plum espalier and vege patch. The Santa Rosa plum was put in last winter - a year and a half later than the other three espaliers that run across the garden. It replaced a cherry which I dug up and moved to the fence (with great difficulty). Posted by edible gardens. The strawberries are nearly finished - in the last few weeks they dried out, got too wet in the constant rain and were also overun by snails. You win some - you lose some! Posted by edible gardens.

Gardening Canberra: January 2011

http://gardeningcanberra.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 29, 2011. The hydrangeas are just about finished – they were beautiful this year and kept flowering for months. I've been looking into creating a Second World War era "Victory Garden" for Floriade this Sept/Oct - in the course of my work yesterday I came across an interesting gardening tip that I read in the. I don't know how I managed to do it but I’ve used more than 10,000 litres of water on the garden in the last month - I emptied my tank which was completely full twice - that ...

Gardening Canberra: September 2010

http://gardeningcanberra.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 30, 2010. The soil that I dug out of the pond was used for the bog and landscaping behind the pond. I planted the bog area then filled the pond to the top. When I had completed the planting I cut the pond liner within 30-40 cm from the edge and covered the liner with soil. I planted alyssum, mint, chocolate mint, Vietnamese mint, native violets and other ground covers to hold the soil together on the edges. Posted by edible gardens. Water lilies require a depth of 30-90 cm. Elephant e...

Gardening Canberra: October 2010

http://gardeningcanberra.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 22, 2010. Holly oak, hazelnut trees and truffle spores. The left corner of the yard is an unattractive space - dominated by the tank and the shed. Typical of our whole backyard the ground was covered with pine bark. This unattractive corner was a horrible space to mow particularly in summer when the grass dried off and is the planned area for our future truffelerie. Bridging the gap between the shed wall and the ground. These have now been replaced with bricks. This tree will be managed i...

The Gardening Canuck | Dorothy Dobbie's Gardening Blog

Dorothy Dobbie's Gardening Blog. August 2, 2015. Three for a day of flowers and happiness. View of the Peace Tower from the fountain near the gate. No Holly did have her license, though. It was a great relief when a very understanding officer said we would no doubt be able to get back in after we had been appropriately grilled to ensure that Claire really was a Canadian. We decided, amidst much thanks, to take our chances. The flowers are at their best, especially the annuals. August 2, 2015. I found a w...

Failure to prune is probably the biggest gardening mistake a person can make. I spent 20 years landscaping homes and businesses, and I watched people make the investment in my services, then they failed to prune when the plants needed it, and before you know it their landscape looked terrible. If you have Per...
