The Search for Sarnie Shangri-La. Honey for My Honey: Honey and Ginger Wafers. 8230;And Now For Something Completely Different! Confession time: this post contains no sandwiches. Nor does it contain any bread. Fillings neither. Not even any gardening. What it does have, is my cousin, who is the best guitar player I know. It bears mentioning that I am a semi-professional musician, and have met, seen, heard, some world class musicians in my time. Why am I going on about this? Somebody That I Used to Know.

A bit of butter. The things I do and the stuff I like. Week 25 – France. It may have been the first week back after the Easter break, but we weren’t going to ease ourselves back into the routine. Nope. We were going to pack our bags, hop in the school mini-bus for eight hours and drive ourselves to France! The purpose of the trip was to visit the headquarters of Lesaffre. A bit of butter. The things I do and the stuff I like. Week 39 – The end. That’s it. It’s all over. Thirty-nine weeks, hundreds of kilos of flour and many thousands of pounds have passed since I started at the School of Artisan Food. It has been quite a journey and not at all what I expected before I got here. Some aspects of the course weren’t quite up to the high standards I’d been promised from their glossy website. A bit of butter. Week 27 – London (again) part two. Week 29 to second-last – Fill in the gaps →. July 19, 2012 · 4:37 pm. Week 28 – Woodfired. The school had a special surprise for us bakers this week. Rumours began on Twitter. All bread was to be baked in the wood fired oven, packed on to a van, then displayed and sold in a stall we had been given at the Victoria Centre Market. In other news this week I managed to sit on my camera and break it. So don’t expect much activity on my Flickr site. You are co...

Mellow Bakers: Flaky butter buns | Chris Throup

The rather boringly self-titled blog. Skip to primary content. Mellow Bakers: Flaky butter buns. 29th April, 2012. I am a little late posting this. I baked these buns on Sat 21 April, but life got in the way of me posting before now. Ah, well; it won’t be the last time this happens! And now for something completely (well, slightly) different. This is my next bake, for the Mellow Baker’s. From Dan Lepard’s. When mixed together, the dough was very stiff. The recipe tells us to “mix with your hand...After t...
