Tuesday tips and tools – hex appeal. I am all about efficient shortcuts – in quilting, crafting, and life in general. What is the fastest way to do something without compromising the quality of what you make? Sometimes I learn these neat little tricks through research and other people’s generous sharing of insight through books and blogs, but most often I learn through trial and error. What better way to discover what works for you than trying it out for yourself? EPP and I go way back. Don’t forge...

All the pretty colors. Besides finishing up all the quilt tops stacks and waiting, I’ve been working on some permanent samples for the gather here. For classes that repeat every few months, it’s a good idea to have a sample in fabrics that are readily available rather than prints from a few seasons ago. The Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition. Was a surprisingly interesting challenge. The total amount of fabric you receive is pretty slim, so it takes some creativity to figure out how to make the most of it. My goals were:. Do something I hadn’t done before: namely, improv piecing. Showcase the Umbrella Prints fabric as well as I can. To be h...
