April 18, 2004. While we were at RWJ we asked one of our favorite nurses to introduce us to the family of the young girl. Her name is Abby Klein and the scene around her bed reminded us of the crowds that formed around Russ. They have a large and caring family. Abby is a student at. July 17, 2004. I am sorry for the long interval since my last update. Russ is enjoying his work at RVCC. He likes being outside and working again. He enjoys seeing everyone again. I don’t get as much feed back from therapy as I used to. Russ is on his own. Russ met with Dr. Fellus. We continue to search for and apply for all types of funding for therapy. There is a new program in. All the slots are now filled. Thanks for following Russ’ recovery,.

May 5, 2004. Most of these exercises are not too difficult but they do focus on areas he is having trouble with. On a day to day basis it is hard to tell what frame of mind Russ is in. He doesn’t usually show outwardly that he is happy or sad except in obvious cases. I find myself asking him if he is OK a lot. He says he is OK but frequently it seems like he is unhappy. By the way, if anyone donates money where they work to the United Way you can help Russ and T-Bird Foundation!

April 26, 2004. We have also been waiting for his cognitive schedule to start so we can arrange Russ to start the VitalStim therapy. VitalStim is similar to the electro-stimulation treatments he was getting on his face to improve his facial expressions but it is performed on the neck and throat. There is a hospital in Wayne that performs this therapy. Russ is doing well with his new glasses. He doesn’t need them all the time. Usually he wears them outdoors but not in the house.

It is gorgeous here, we live right on the waterfront across from seaport on Boston Harbor. It’s been fun being out of hospitals and nursing homes and being home, this is a great place.
