Our Family Life on the Dairy Farm. Sunday Afternoon Milking Crew. Selling the Cows →. Kids can work on farms! February 10, 2012. I guess some people want to make it so kids won’t be allowed to work on farms anymore. That would be sad, because my brothers and sisters and I work on the farm pretty much every day. I personally like to work on the farm more that I like to work in the house! I would be very sad if I was not allowed to work on our dairy farm. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Great to se...

Our Family Life on the Dairy Farm. Author Archives: Garrick Hall. Do Americans Trust Science. January 9, 2014. I recently read about a survey that was done by the Huffington Post (HuffPost/YouGov poll) that asked a simple question, How much faith do Americans have in scientists and science journalists? Our Family Life on the Dairy Farm. Christmas day on the Dairy. Sunday Afternoon Milking Crew →. Milking as a Family (Trevor “pushes” the Cows). January 9, 2012. Milking lately has become a family affair. We have had record warm temperatures for January (mid 40’s) so Casen and Trevor have been coming out to milk in the afternoons, which can make for a full barn, but they are fun to watch. Sometimes the cows look at him a little bit funny, but in the end he gets them where they need to go. Enter your email...

WEISS CENTENNIAL FARM – Since 1853. Living a dairy good life in Frankenmuth, Mi. April 13, 2015. This farm only supports a single family financially, and Roger is just 55. That means ten years to go before he can think about “retiring” and passing ownership and daily management of the farm on to one of our kids. A land contract will legally pass the farm to the next generation. In reality, I think real retirement, when he stops farming, is probably decades in the future. Our own grocery bills? Prayerfull...

Wednesday, October 30, 2013. 2013 Silage Harvest: DONE. Our 2013 fall silage harvest is officially complete! We'll celebrate this accomplishment by having a full work schedule through the end of the week, tend to our regular milking/feeding chores over the weekend, and then start drilling next Spring's wheat and ryegrass crops into the ground come next week. We are now feeding our cows corn silage from the first pit we filled. Links to this post. Friday, October 18, 2013. Links to this post. 8221; but in...

Sunday, June 21, 2015. Lessons learned from my Dad. My sister and I were blessed to grow up in a Christian home with a mom and dad that loved us and were (and remain) engaged in our lives. And since today is Fathers Day, I thought I would share with you a few of the many lessons I've learned from my dad over the years. Dad taught me how to play sports. Or perhaps more importantly, he taught me how to make time for my kids even at the end of a long work day. Dad taught me the value of good conversation.

Monday, September 30, 2013. 2013 Silage Harvest: Week 5 Recap. Ten more "full" days of chopping should see us finish our harvest, but those ten days could easily be spread over three weeks. We had intended on moving into our bottomland this morning, but over an inch of rain quickly washed that thought way. Most likely we'll chop next to the dairy for the next two days and move to the creek bottom on Thursday.IF it doesn't rain anymore. Chopping sorghum on a cloudy morning. Links to this post. The Dairyman's Blog: My Farming Forefathers
http://blog.gilmerdairyfarm.com/2009/06/my-farming-forefathers.html
Sunday, June 21, 2009. My great-grandfather George Gilmer. Established our farm in part with land he purchased from his father-in-law (and my great-great-grandpa) Evans Jackson. Papa Gilmer. Farmed cotton corn and raised livestock on the farm, and was at successful enough to make a lifelong living doing it. He passed away in 1949 (six years before my father was born) so I know very little about him other than what my grandmother recorded in a book of family biographies. Friends.went to George Gilmer.
