I did another overland crossing into Malaysia after my flight to Hat Yai. I had to pay 4,500 baht (or 150 USD) to exit Thailand because I overstayed my visa. Ouch! I arrived in the morning and impulsively decided to stay in Vashist, a smaller village just up the hill from Manali. I was immediately happier. I was in the gorgeous Himalayas and the temperature was lovely! Finally I pulled the trigger and bought a bus ticket to Dharamasala although I could have stayed in Vashist longer. ...
