Homework was to finalize my detail choices. I will be coming back to this to add pictures to back up my choices. Next step is dyeing my gold material a darker gold, acquiring pearls and gold thread. Midwinter 2014 Costuming Challenge. Florence in the 16th century. Ginevra Lucia Di Namoraza. Asymp; Leave a comment. I predominantly wear Florentine clothing. However a Middle Eastern event popped up locally and dressing in theme is always fun. I have a couple of Turkish coats but not much else. As I was browsing through an op shop I found a costume that looked “period enough” in a tunic and pants way. I was very interested in the originality of the costume and the historical back ground behind it. Kahle...

My Laurel, Mistress Mathilde asked my Apprentice Sister, Ceara and I to attempt the Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition for Midwinter. The challenge is “ Court Garb. From any period, special attention to recreating all the layers)”. We both have been meaning to make a Saxony gown for a while, so Saxony gown it was.

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Happy Rasos, Kupolės and/or Joninės!
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2009/06/happy-rasos-kupoles-andor-jonines.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Happy Rasos, Kupolės and/or Joninės! Happy St. John's Day. Or maybe I should call it by one of its other, more Lithuanian Pagan names: Rasos, Kupolės, Joninės. So many names for a single day celebrated by so many cultures. Yes, the summer solstice actually occurred on June 21 this year, but June 24 is the traditional date of Midsummer Day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Friday, September 5, 2014. Cap of St. Birgitta. As I said in my previous post, last month I took a Pennsic University. Class on how to make a St. Birgitta's cap. Lady Sarai Tindall taught the class. I don't think she has a website of her own, but the method she taught was very similar to the one in this tutorial. First, here's how my cap looked toward the end of the two-hour Pennsic class:. I finish...

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Friday, July 6, 2012. Garb Thoughts for a Midsummer Day. Author's note: I started writing this on Sunday, June 24, but didn't get around to finishing it. With the big storm and power outages that canceled the June 30 SCA event in my barony, things got kind of crazy. So here is the article as I started to write it . if that makes any sense.). Today is Lithuania's Midsummer Day, also called. Scrolling...

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Saturday, August 16, 2014. OK, it's been a long while now. While the hunt for full-time employment continues, I try to keep up with my SCA life as well as I can with my limited means. I haven't been doing much Lithuanian research lately, but I have been attending events when I can and trying to make myself useful to the Barony of Storvik. I was wearing clothing that looked vaguely Middle Eastern and...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Dresses to go with the cap?

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Thursday, September 25, 2014. Dresses to go with the cap? Now that I have a St. Birgitta's cap. Of my own, what shall I wear it with? This morning I happened to see a relevant post in the SCA Garb group on Facebook. So, right now I'm just parking the links that the comments to that post contained - various tutorials on fitted kirtles. Labels: a and s. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Where Does T...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Happy 25th Anniversary, Lithuania!
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2015/03/happy-25th-anniversary-lithuania.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Happy 25th Anniversary, Lithuania! I often tell people that Lithuania is "the little country with two Independence Days." Well, there's a good reason for that. Twenty-five years ago today, Lithuania became the first of the so-called Soviet Socialist Republics to declare itself free. In May 2011, as I noted on this blog. I got a chance to meet Dr. Landsbergis in person ...

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Saturday, February 16, 2013. Long time no post (AGAIN). Wow yeah . it HAS been a long time. Now, I certainly haven't abandoned the SCA. I've been to a number of events and have continued to serve my Barony as a herald. But I've been focusing, by necessity, on trying to find gainful employment. Still, I was happy to see that Wikipedia featured the article on the history of Lithuania from 1219 to 1295.

Happy to be miserable. Asymp; Comments Off on happy to be miserable. Cross-posted to my Tumblr. Where things are usually more Tumbly. Happy to Be Miserable. The word “community” is mentioned several times in the essay, and so I wanted to put in my own two cents, since how to build and maintain a positive community is a huge part of my life – both personally and professionally. Practice not reacting in a frustrated way. Practice laughter. Practice going just a little further into the future. The best, mos...

Un po' di tutto. In which I discuss a little of everything. Tuesday, November 4, 2008. There must be a million blogs with that title today. Heh. Sorry to be unoriginal.
