Reason why it is worth the time and effort to improve your 21st Century teaching skills. We heard a reply at all. That's a lot of time and uncertainty for a teacher whose lessons could depend on the answers. I recently found out my best friend from college will be retiring at the end of this school year. She is a Media Specialist at a middle school. Her career is ending. Mine is just getting started; I started graduate school recently working towards a masters in School Library Media. Weird juxtaposition! December 9, 2012. Total hours: 104 hours. Working with students at home school: 47 hours. December 1, 2012. Both the teacher and I felt it went very well and I was pleased to see how enthusiastic the studen...

October’s Review | School Library Fun
https://schoollibraryfun.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/octobers-review
November 2, 2012. It’s hard to believe that October is already over, but I proved to be a fruitful month. In addition to a few hours at my home school, and the Mondays I was devoting to the high school, I also spent an entire week at my high school and learned a lot. All I can say is spirit week at the high school is much more fun than at the middle school level. Reviewed DDS with 7. Prepared a book display for October on supernatural themed books, both fiction and nonfiction. The day the 7. I recently f...

Second Monday in October | School Library Fun
https://schoollibraryfun.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/second-monday-in-october
Second Monday in October. October 8, 2012. High school libraries certainly different from what I’m used to in a middle school. In middle school, we offer a lot of hands on services, not just help but instruction as well. On the two Mondays I’ve been here, I notice that the library is mainly used for its computers and the only hands on help given was in instructing students the correct procedure for saving documents to their drives. I recently found out my best friend from college will be retiring at the ...

November | School Library Fun

December 1, 2012. November was certainly a busy month. I was able to complete all my hours. In fact, I think I’ve even gone over. I will have a grand total in a few days when I get a chance to go over my records again. November was basically Seventh Grade month. I spent the rest of the month working with seventh graders of various projects. My first task with them was a thematic activity on mysteries. I did this during American Education Week with parents in attendance no less! The best dog in Vietnam.

September | School Library Fun

September 30, 2012. So what have I done in those five hours? Worked with sixth graders on dictionary assignment. Started a book with series. Looked at the policy manual. Reviewed the reconsideration policy. We are having an author visit next month and in preparation for Chris Grabenstein’s visit we have started reading The. The reconsideration policy is very straight forward. I believe it to be the same policy which was in place in 2006 when the county made national news for pulling. My thoughts and musi...

During our meal stop the kids made the most of their freedom from the bus. A softball game broke out during one of our meal stops. There was even a game a Twister going on. In between stops a movie or two was played. Kids listened to music and even streamed YouTube video clips, and played video games. One educator's 360 °.
