Monday, June 21, 2010. Links to this post. Sunday, June 06, 2010. I started with just welding up some cracks. I switched over from the TIG setup and went with a flux core wire feed since that is what I could get a hold of. I started by cutting out the spot below the driver's side door that showed signs of cancer:. Good thing I looked in there! It was some pretty bad rust. I finished cutting out the body and then cleaned the rust away from the pillar with a wire wheel:. After Scuffing the tub, I rigged up...

I have had the brake lines I ordered sitting around my house for over a month so I finally got started. First I had to fab up a mount for the new portioning valve:. These g...

Thompology: Small updates.
http://www.thompology.com/2010/10/small-updates.html
Tuesday, October 19, 2010. While there has been no major progress on the jeep. I was able to get a couple of things checked off the list. I bartered and was able to trade some liquid crank and a box of coffin nails for this:. I think with about a gallon of Armor All and a bit of sewing with my stitch kit it should look good and hold up for a bit. Next I located where I wanted the rear lights:. Cut em out and mounted em:. Also I got started on the main body of the front bumper. Also, as this thing gets cl...

Thompology: August 2010
http://www.thompology.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 23, 2010. So if you have been reading along than you know that when I bought this jeep it wouldn't even roll, let alone run and drive. Well Saturday for the first time since I have owned this jeep, I drove it under its own power! Mind you I don't have breaks installed, a seat to sit on, or exhaust yet but WTH, I just couldn't wait! Why didn't I think of that? I guess I am just too used to it being stationary. It was the most exciting 3 point turn of my life! Etched and prepped for POR-15:.

Thompology: May 2009

Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Loon Lake is located at the end of Ice House road, West of Lake Tahoe, and just at the north westerly point of the Desolation Wilderness. No tent or hammock this trip as it was only a one-nighter. Just threw the sleeping bags in the back of my truck and slept there. I would like to head back once the gates open and there is a place to safely park, and hike East on the trail that runs into Desolation. Good trip, and another adventure on the books. Sunday, May 02, 2010. Time keeps on ticking. Slow progress. Found some weird body warping on the back fenders:. A small bit of cancer under the drivers side door:. The rusted out support I already knew of:. The rest of the tub looked great for a 36 year old Jeep! I haven't seen the tub since it got it final sandblasting and epoxy primer so I am excited to see how it ended up. That's not what happened at all. I mean this is Thompology here. By that time I was so stoked that I had to mount the radiator bac...

Thursday, July 23, 2009. Highway 50 to I-80 and 2 feet short of 50 miles. How far is it from this pass to I-80? Hiker #1: "I think about 15 miles.". Hiker #2: "We just came that way, about 25 miles.". Ranger: "Well lets see, that's got to be about 30-35 miles.". I noticed the numbers kept getting bigger and commented that we better stop asking now while it still seems in reach. Hope you enjoyed it. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thompology: April 2010
http://www.thompology.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 11, 2010. From nothing to. slightly more than nothing. Lets start from the frame in the backyard:. I got the frame set back on the axles. I didn't deal with the axles yet as I am still trying to decide if I go with Toyota or 80's style Jeep. More on that later. By this time I had pulled the oil pan to take a look inside and check for any slop where there shouldn't be:. I noticed that the timing chain seemed a little loose, I could move it back and forth 3/4 of an inch:. I began the search f...
