I grew up with Peanuts comics. My mum's boyfriend at the time bought me a Peanuts comic book when I was about 4 or 5; I couldn't read a lot of them until later. It was one of my favourite books anyway; I think I may still have it. I'd look at the drawings and see Charlie's troubled face, then in the next panel see Snoopy giving him a hug. Schulz was so amazing to give this cartoon boy such rich character, I liked how easily you could relate to this boy in his very average demeanour and everyday woes.
