Burmese Chickpea Tofu | Girl Cooks World

http://www.girlcooksworld.com/2013/03/burmese-chickpea-tofu.html

March 26, 2013. I can probably count the number of times I’ve eaten tofu in the past couple years on one hand. Sure, there are a lot of recipes that I love that use the stuff (. But I just never really jumped on the soy bandwagon. So what’s a girl to do when she wants a neutral vegan protein base for recipes but eschews soy because of the potential health risks? Thankfully the good people of Burma have the answer: chickpea tofu. 2 cups chickpea/garbanzo bean flour. 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric (optional).

Cambodian Pomelo or Grapefruit Salad. September 29, 2011. I’ve been lucky enough to live in a lot of great places out here in Honolulu. I’ve lived in a shiny and beautiful new house, a cute rustic cottage in the rainy and lush valley, and across from the beach (and my favorite surf break! Cambodian Pomelo or Grapefruit Salad. 3 large grapefruit or 1 to 1-1/2 pomelo. 1-1/2 Tablespoons fish sauce. 3 Tablespoons lime juice. 1 Tablespoon palm sugar (can substitute brown or white sugar). 2/3 cup chopped mint.

Frozen Hot Chocolate | Girl Cooks World

http://www.girlcooksworld.com/2012/06/frozen-hot-chocolate.html

June 12, 2012. As I mentioned earlier this week, I’ve got ice cream and other frozen treats on the brain. The temperatures have been rising around here and since I’m fundamentally anti-air conditioning, I have to resort to other methods to stay cool. And when I can’t get to the beach or pool, frozen desserts are my favorite way to beat the heat. I was perusing this Ice Cream and Frozen Desserts. Cookbook last week and the Frozen Hot Chocolate recipe caught my eye. But this version sure hit the spot.

Kurilo Alu Bhutuwa- Nepali Potatoes and Asparagus | Girl Cooks World

http://www.girlcooksworld.com/2012/02/kurilo-alu-bhutuwa-nepali-potatoes-and-asparagus.html

Kurilo Alu Bhutuwa- Nepali Potatoes and Asparagus. February 16, 2012. Oh, asparagus. I cry a little bit inside every time I eat you and realize that I went twenty-something years before I had my first taste. Of course it was roasted asparagus that lured me in. Now I love it in all its variations: plain, wrapped in prosciutto, grilled, etc., etc. Do I get bonus points because this recipe is vegan AND only takes minutes? Kurilo Alu Bhutuwa- Nepali Potatoes and Asparagus. 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds. In a larg...

Monthly Archives: January 2013. January 25, 2013. Well January is kind if my time of wallowing in the doldrums, and this January is worse than ever. How can it not be, it’s cold, the air is the worst I’ve ever seen, and I’m missing California. Actually I don’t wallow I just have to do things that don’t suck me in so much, … Continue reading →. Teriyaki chicken and coconut rice | Happy family meals

https://happyfamilymeals.com/2014/03/05/teriyaki-chicken-and-coconut-rice

Teriyaki chicken and coconut rice. March 5, 2014. Yeah, no clever title or anything interesting, just plain and simple good food. This meal was really easy to throw together and you have time to read some books with the kids, shower, or just relax while it’s cooking. There are a million ways you could change this to suit your tastes but my family seemed to like as is and for me you don’t mess with success, especially when it comes to kids and food🙂. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup soy sauce. Always in the Kitchen: October 2014

http://alwaysinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Always in the Kitchen. Non-stop talk about food. October 31, 2014. Chili and cornbread is a really classic combination. Cornbread, of course, can take many different shapes and forms, not to mention bonus flavours and the eternal debate between sweet/not-sweet that rages through the Americas. My favourite, growing up, was Southern Spoon Bread, a cornbread leavened with beaten egg whites into a lusciously light accompaniment to almost any meal. But I like all kinds of breads made from corn. 1/2 cup 1% milk.

Always in the Kitchen. Non-stop talk about food. March 15, 2015. Roasted Chicken with Mandarins and Ouzo (Plus: International Bento: Jerusalem). One of our Christmas gifts this year was the gorgeous cookbook Jerusalem. By Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi. I've been petting the pages for weeks now, but finally got it together to make something from it. This was a wow-factor recipe, turning simple chicken parts into a feast. Wonderfully, this dish can be prepped in advance, so you just need to tumble the m...

Always in the Kitchen: November 2014

http://alwaysinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Always in the Kitchen. Non-stop talk about food. November 22, 2014. Lentil, Mushroom, and Walnut Shepherd's Pie. One of the first German recipes that I made once I moved to Germany was Linseneintopf. A thick and hearty lentil stew, often served with sliced or whole sausages as one of the components. We were really taken with the original dish, but it has been nagging at me for some time that it would make a wonderful vegetarian (or vegan) main course as well. Casserole), rather than an Eintopf. Wipe the ...

Saturday, May 14, 2011. How to Render Chicken Fat. If you hate wasting food as much as I do, you may already be familiar with rendering fat from chickens. If you haven't, that's fine! I had never done it before either, but it really is very simple and pretty cool! My rendered fat I used the trimmed fat and the skins from the breasts and necks of two chickens that I fabricated ( How to fabricate a chicken. Any of the chicken skin or trimmed fat should work fine. Add enough water to just cover the skin.

Girl Cook in Paris. Love of food. Work as a Private Chef. And life in Paris. Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
