Adventures in Wonderland: Here it comes

http://girlwithasword.blogspot.com/2011/08/here-it-comes.html

Monday, August 22, 2011. So the tomato onslaught begins. I roasted and froze 2 quarts garlic/tomato purée, and juiced and froze 4 quarts homemade "v-7". I also juiced and froze 4 quarts aronia berry juice, and have three dyepots going on the stove. Posted by girlwithasword at 8:56 PM. Pretty much all my tomato plants have died now from the ehat. Tuesday, December 05, 2006. We picked grapes for icewine last Thursday. IT WAS COLD! LIkereally cold. About 10 actual degrees, with a windchill of below zero. But it was fun, and the kind folks at Prairie Moon Winery. Gave us a really nice little special tour! Posted by girlwithasword at 8:35 PM. Monday, December 04, 2006. http://girlwithasword.blogspot.com/2006_10_15_archive.html

Monday, October 16, 2006. I decided to play with rust dyeing. First, I saved a bunch of rusty stuff from the burn pile at our farm. Then, I put them in a jar of water with a bit of vinegar, and let them get *extra* rusty. Here is the jar of vinegar. Mmm.rustwater. I acutally have this on jar of rusty water hand to use as a mordant for various natural dye projects. After a week, I washed the fabric in salt water, then threw it in the washer and dryer. The result is shown here. I LIKE IT! What do you think?

Friday, October 06, 2006. Death, how sweet thy sting. or something. These are super cool socks, which "killed" me in sockwars. But I love them. Thank you Gaye! Oh, and that's my cat Three. Isn't he handsome? Posted by girlwithasword at 5:35 PM. Sunday, October 01, 2006. Natural dyeing fascinates me. The autumn leaves, freshly fallen acorns and black walnuts, and the green grass are all telling me to throw them in the dyepot. So I am! I picked acorns from our farm. I have another in that pattern partially...

http://beyondthebluegate.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 23, 2013. BGF News April 2013. Precipitation to date this month: Rain: 6.7”. What’s up on the farm? Well, here we are in April and I'm pretty sure that I am not going to get the February and March newsletters done. Not sure how that happened, just suddenly, here it April! I'm fairly certain that every year since we moved to the farm (now 8 years ago) that the month of March has gotten shorter, to the extent that I'm convinced this year we skipped it altogether! Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Back from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Last week was our spring break, so we packed up family and friends to head for the mountains of Tennessee. I love the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. There is so much to see and do.outlet shopping, go kart racing, Ripley's aquarium, Wonderworks, lots of pancake houses.gee, I sound like a kid myself! With three families sharing, this came down to about $60 bucks a night. And it was GORGEOUS! April 15, 2009 at 9:35 AM. April 19, 2009 at 7:09 PM.

Farm Genevieve: in like a lion...

http://www.farmgenevieve.com/2014/03/in-like-lion.html

Sunday, March 9, 2014. In like a lion. Winter is hanging on a bit too long this year. March started off no different than the previous three months. Our poor animals have had a long season of trudging through the snow and ice. I know a sheep or two that are tired of hay and looking forward to some green pastures. The ducks and geese, leaving frozen footprints in the snow, and dreaming of their swimming pool. Spring trees have had enough, too, and are budding out. Take that Old Man Winter! I dyed 21 6 oz ...

February 09, 2014. 39 days seems like an eternity! Its too cold out there! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
