For my amazing class of 2011. Sunday, February 27, 2011. I Died for Beauty. What notions of belonging are explored in the poem? How are they conveyed? True belonging comes from shared values. Belonging involves some degree of a loss of identity? I like this Darshini, but question your last point a bit. I think its less that their identities are lost due to belonging and rather a reflection on death- its a bit of a leveller in this poem. It wipes everything away regardless of who you are.
