Monday, 28 July 2008. First day of my blog! Another lovely sunny morning on the farm. After preparing guests breakfasts I took the 3 bottle fed lambs and our 3 dogs - Casper (boxer), Crispin (springer spaniel) and Cyrus (boxer puppy) for a walk around one of our pastures. I checked food and water for the 70 assorted rare breed chickens. Our guests love watching thier antics and eating their eggs. Now I'm in the office for a few hours work. Saturday, 9 August 2008. Two unexpected arrivals this week - lambs. Some of our rare breed sheep met up with the ram in April and the result is unseasonal births. The weather is nice and warm for the new arrivals but they need to put weight on before winter. Unfortunately some vicious animal has been stalking the downs where our other sheep graze as a couple have been attacked this week. It could be a fox, wild cat or dogs. Saturday, 2 August 2008. Raining this morning but cleared up by lunchtime - the weather very rarely stays bad here all day. Very hot this afternoon. Last night our 3 Castlemilk moorit (rare breed) rams got out of their field (The gate had been opened by someone! And came into the garden. As the garden is fenced in I quickly shut the gate and they've stayed there enjoying fresh grass and loookng with interest at the doves, geese, hens and dogs who have all been in the garden too for most of the day.
