A City of Romance. Wednesday, June 30. Today we checked out of our room and made our way to the train station to catch the 11:34 train to Sevilla. It was so simple to figure things out, and a very comfortable ride. Why doesn’t the US have such a comprehensive, high-speed rail system? Monday, June 28. We were up early to catch plane to Granada about 11 hours away by car, less than 90 minutes by air! Our hotel was so very cool (Hotel Migueletes) from the main street we had to walk up 2 alleys to get there, but once there we found that it had an open-air courtyard and large rooms (we had a king bed with pull out sofa) with interesting bathrooms (pink with a circular ceiling). Friday, July 2. We took the 9:45 train from Sevilla to Cordoba, where we met our guide, Juan, who introduced us to his city by telling us that it was once one of the most important cities in Europe. It was settled first by the Romans, who saw the advantages of being on the river. We wandered around a bit more, checking out all the shops. Karen bought a fun silver bracelet dripping with dice and a handmade leather box. Claire got a beautiful turquoise bracelet. George got to carry everything!
