smith sketch!: February 2014
http://k8esmith.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Boy has time flown by. This past November marked some really exciting things: I celebrated my 5 year anniversary at work and I went to CTN! It was my first time going, in general and as an exhibitor, and I shared a table with the illustrious and ever beardy Dan Seddon. It was an amazing, humbling, inspiring, stressful, but most of all, fun, weekend. I met so many fantastic people, made new friends, got to see old friends, and saw some artists who's work I've admired so much.

Friday, September 26, 2014. I'm a raptor, doin' what I can. Alright who saw Steven Soderbergh's recutting of Raiders of the Lost Ark? Talk about awesome. If you haven't seen it yet, definitely go on and check it out here. On his website. I grew up on Star Wars and Indiana Jones (specifically Raiders), so that movie is very near and dear to my heart. I remember the moment I pulled my family's beloved VHS out of the VCR and the film pulled along with it. I was heartbroken. Now to round out this quick post!

Tuesday, July 16, 2013. The talented Matt Jones. Has put together a fundraiser to bring the works of Ronald Searle here to the States, which would mark the West Coast's first ever exhibition of Searle's amazing artwork! Monday, March 4, 2013. Testing, 1. 2. So 2013 kicked in and somehow, it's already March. I hope you all have had a great new year so far! It's still pretty cold in NYC, which luckily means I get a little more use out of my fireplace before it gets too warm! I can't wait for nice weather to be back and the sun to shine longer. I look forward to class each week. Here's my first "bouncing ball" test:. And then here's a test of a ballerina. I hope this works! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Testing, 1. 2.

Friday, August 9, 2013. Right near da beach BOYEEEE. Man do I love the shore. Spent great time with family, ran on the beach a lot, got to see wonderful family friends, surfed (and fell down) a whole bunch, ate delicious food, hit up all our favorite Sea Isle/Ocean City/Stone Harbor spots, did early AM yoga one day right on the beach to welcome the DAYYY AH! It was all so nice. Plus, it was my niece's first time there! She was so cute and will definitely be a little beach baby - she loved the water!

Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Hey folks, here we go! A whole lotta gestures! Working on getting the gesture down fast and getting the movement/feeling. Most were drawn in coffee shops, Grand Central, and the train. And some snippets of hands (a lot of Milt Kahl and co, really just getting the feeling of hands in there and practicing). And THENN some Octopi (playing with shapes). And some random stream of thought a few more gestures. A big thank you to the greatest mustache growing guy I know, Aidan Sugano.
