Avid mountain biker, occasional hiker and seasonal skier. Get outside, its a big world to explore. This write-up will serve as a learning tool, not only for the Circle trail, but any ride that may go above your normal comfort zone. It's a 5 step plan. Simple, really. It's the sure-fire way to guarantee your ride will end in complete self destruction. Plan a long route. In this case a 55 mile loop around Prescott, AZ. Celebrate that great ride with a few drinks - it was national tequila day, I had to!

OK how many of you have been in the bush for a few days and at the end of a days slog, sit around the camp fire and yearn for a cold brew? Your dreams have come true. Hanging On The Trail. Planning and completing a 2014 Appalachian Trail thru-hike. Monthly Archives: January 2014. I have never gone backpacking for more than one night. The 2 most important items are the Jacket and the Rain Kilt. T...

How to Hike Long Distances Each Day. I subscribe to Erik the Black's blog. He has just posted a very interesting article with itineraries on how to hike 15 miles (24ks), 25 miles (40ks) and 30 miles (48ks) at day! Of course this begs the question, "Do you really want to do that? Sometimes you may have to. See Erik's itineraries here http:/ blackwoodspress.com/blog/20401/how-to-hike-15-to-30-miles-a-day/.
