http://gourmetrooster.blogspot.com/2014/02/diy-mayonnaisewith-yummy-mix-ins.html
Wednesday, February 19, 2014. DIY Mayonnaise. With Yummy Mix-Ins! Eighty percent of Americans like mayonnaise. I totally made up that number. I have no idea how many people like mayo. I do, however, know that mayonnaise is very polarizing. It really isn’t a food that people think is just Ok. People either love it or hate it….like cilantro. I am one of those people that love it. Mayonnaise is one of my favorite things in the whole world. Did you know that it is really easy to make your own mayo? I usually ...

Yep, it’s Christmas. A wonderful time, spent with family and friends, enjoying every second with each other, right? Ok, sometimes it’s not all that easy and smooth. Christmas can be stressful. But do you know what doesn’t have to be? That can be the easiest part of this whole darn season. I keep it on my kitche...

Gourmet Rooster: Celebrate Mardi Gras with Etouffee
http://gourmetrooster.blogspot.com/2014/02/celebrate-mardi-gras-with-etouffee.html
Thursday, February 27, 2014. Celebrate Mardi Gras with Etouffee. According to the good people at Wikipedia.”Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the. Season, which begins on. Tuesday, March 4th is Fat Tuesday….the biggest day during Mardi Gras. I think it’s as good of a reason as any to celebrate. Why not? I chose concentrated chicken broth because I want the broth flavor, but I don’t want this t...

Gourmet Rooster: June 2013

Thursday, June 27, 2013. Happy 4th of July! Of July is one of my favorite days of the year. I love any holiday, of course, but I really love a good holiday in the summertime. It’s hot outside, there is usually a parade of some sort, a BBQ, and the best part….fireworks! It isn’t a holiday that centers around gift giving, or really even food. It is about being together and the Red, White and Blue. Can’t beat it. When I was growing in up California, we went to a parade every year on the 4. I figured I could...

Thursday, May 30, 2013. Pot Roast Sandwiches and Tater Salad! A few weeks ago, I was in California visiting family, and I happened to go to a deli that had “pot roast” sandwiches. I was so excited! Until I got my sandwich. I was picturing a gooey, gravy laden, cheesy hot sandwich. You know, like pot roast your grandma used to make….simmered all day with carrots, onions and potatoes. What I got was a cold sandwich with what looked like sliced roast beef on it. I guess perhaps it was pot roast at one point.

Thursday, August 29, 2013. Biscuit and Gravy Burgers! Ok, fair warning:. This recipe will not be healthy. In fact, it will be rather unhealthy. I’m stating that up front so you don’t think I’m nuts. But let’s back up a bit. My husband’s birthday was last week. I always make him whatever he wants for dinner on his birthday. I do that for my kids too. The hubs wanted biscuits and gravy. The kids wanted hamburgers. What if I combined the two? Would it be a hot mess? Huge win, all around. I didn’t gril...

Gourmet Rooster: Healthy 2014!
http://gourmetrooster.blogspot.com/2014/01/healthy-2014.html
Thursday, January 9, 2014. May your year be filled love, success and health. I actually might be able to help you with the “health” part of it….Part of healthy living, obviously, is healthy eating. While I am a firm believer in “everything in moderation”, I still know that healthy eating, for myself and my family is key. For me, 2014 is going to be the year of the vegetable. I can’t forget protein. I think that these are the two things I skimp on the majority of the time. My kids do too. No more, I say!

Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Last Minute Halloween Ideas. You knew that, right? Of course, I’ve been on Pinterest and there is no end to the cute, or spooky, or spooky and cute at the same time, Halloween food. There are thousands of recipes and ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts and anything else you can think of. While they are all amazing, all it really does it stress me out because I know there is no way I could make most of it. And I do this for a living. And you know what? I pipe ...

Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Creamy Pesto Artichoke Dip! By the time you read this, we will know who is going to the Super Bowl. As I write this, we don’t. It had better be the ‘Niners, or I will have one very unhappy husband. I would like to see the ‘Niners go too, after all, I am a Bay Area girl at heart. And it always nice to see Colin Kaepernick succeed, right? You may be able to guess, I’m really not that into football. I try, I really do. But it is hard for me to sit through an entire game. I use j...

Gourmet Rooster: April 2013

Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Peanut Butter Sesame Pork. Ok, let me start off by saying what you are all thinking. Yes, I cook with Asian flavors a lot. It’s a hit. It’s a crowd pleaser, and so on and so on. My kids love most Asian dishes, my husband does, and I do. You know what else I love? We have been so busy lately with work, school, softball, etc. My daughter’s softball games are weeknights at 6pm. I realize someone has to play at that time….but it really messes with dinner. She has to be there at 5pm.
