Absolutely Awesome Eight: May 2014
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 18, 2014. It's That Time of the Year. When the soccer season is in full swing. Fortunately, I enjoy watching Jantzen's team play - they are an impressive bunch. It's amazing how the tempo of the game has increased as their skills have improved from year to year. We really like Jantzen's coach and appreciate his balanced approach to the sport (aka - he has a life outside of soccer - and so do the boys). I was too busy assisting with Field Day at the elementary school all morning to think about...

Saturday, April 26, 2014. Spelling Bee-cuz It's Fun! Anna was selected to represent her elementary school at a multi-district 4th Grade Spelling Bee this weekend. She seemed "cool as a cucumber" up on stage in the high-pressure situation and successfully made it through several rounds. Congratulations Anna! This girl can s-p-e-l-l! She's already asking when she can do it again.'bee-cuz' it was so fun. I sure enjoy listening to Brinley practice her violin. We woke up to this following Earth Day. A new cel...

Sunday, August 31, 2014. Hawaii - a dream come true! When our children turn 14 years old, they have the opportunity to take a special trip with Dad. I made photo books for Tanner and Aaron about their time together on the east coast two years ago, but no blog post was made - yet.). At the airport - bright and early. Due to various circumstances and a kind heart, Brinley allowed Tanner to join her and Aaron during their week in beautiful HAWAII! Brinley - catching a few zzz's at the airport. Although scho...

Absolutely Awesome Eight: April 2015
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 26, 2015. Our kindergartener has turned the ripe old age of 6 years old! As the months and years clip along, Aaron and I can hardly believe the ages and stages of our children. They are all growing up so fast. It won't be long before they start 'leaving the nest'.but we won't talk about that. This stuffed elephant named "Peanut" became his instant side-kick and he introduced "Peanut" to anybody and everybody throughout the day. Bringing a birthday treat to school is optional (according to t...

Absolutely Awesome Eight: October 2014
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 19, 2014. I educated her on the fact that brides typically pay for receptions and grooms provide luncheons. Her eyes looked as huge as saucers with this new revelation. In her astonishment she replied, "What? And the girls have the babies too? Oh boy. I've never thought of it quite like that before. Jantzen enjoyed playing "real soccer" again this fall after the interesting. The boys were invited to scrimmage during half-time at a varsity high school game. Jantzen - in blue jersey. We had...

Absolutely Awesome Eight: Cancun Reunion
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2015/08/cancun-reunion.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. It's the summer for family reunions. Both sides of the family hold extended reunions every other year and happen to be on the same schedule. Thanks to Brandon and Stephanie's encouragement, we did something a little different this year on the M. side of family. Most of us were on the same flight - bright and early. A parent/siblings/spouse reunion - at a resort in Cancun, Mexico (July 12-18). Stephanie, Jared, Janene, Bob. You know it's fancy when they decorate the toilet paper.

Absolutely Awesome Eight: September 2014
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Funny things to remember. Elsie was helping me in the kitchen and her arms were getting tired from stirring for so long. In my effort to encourage her, I made a comment about how tiring it must have been for the pioneer children to churn their butter each day. Her quick response caught me off guard when she stated very matter-of-factly, "Mom, the pioneers are all dead.". Surprised by his question I asked, "and just where is the Q mountain? Kids can be so creative. We really...

Absolutely Awesome Eight: July 2014
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. We drove Brinley north to the Quickwater Ranch where she "lived" from July 12-26. Ellie, Brinley, Rebekah, Kaite (mentor), Katie, Sara. There were "teams" of five girls each ages 13-16 with one mentor assigned to each of the five groups. There were also youth leaders (over age 17) that planned and assisted with different activities. All of the girls shared in various ranch responsibilities and slept in a platform tent together for two weeks. Apparently, it can be done! For some ...

Absolutely Awesome Eight: March 2015
http://absolutelyawesome8.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. The cross-country ski season did not last long this year but Tanner enjoyed it while he could. Practices were held at the nearby golf course so it was super convenient. Too bad we didn't get a little more snow this season! He traded in his skis for spikes weeks ago with the start of the outdoor track season. The amazing spring weather has allowed Tanner to flourish with such ideal racing conditions. Waiting for the hand-off. It's been a great season thus far! Brinley is stretching...
