Monday, January 6, 2014. The rest of plywood crafting. So there was lots of plywood crafting to be done this Christmas season but it is now complete. Mostly plywood signs about mountains. Pretty much entirely plywood signs about mountains. Including (but not limited to) - peeling off more paper label letters to complete the aforementioned (in the previous post) sign -. To making J's Christmas present -. They came out looking (dare I say) pretty darn cool. That one of Mount Baker is about 20x30". ).

craftsman.: fireplace part one.
http://craftsman-in-progress.blogspot.com/2011/02/fireplace-part-one.html
Saturday, February 19, 2011. Let me just start off by admitting I said to myself at like one o'clock or something a couple Saturdays ago 'oh, I'll just knock this fireplace paneling out this afternoon.'. Two weeks later I am on day three. And ten hours later on this third day . I finally finish, but only half-finished. So it's somewhat embarrassing, but this is how the fireplace has looked since I ripped off the beadboard paneling about a month or two after moving in here four years ago -. I set the 5/8"...

Friday, April 4, 2014. So it became obvious I would need to cough up some change for a new tool. Rather than just make due again - I searched and searched and landed on the primo Porter-Cable 895pk (which included a plunge base for handholding the tool and a fixed base to mount to a table, along with a gadget to adjust the depth of the router bit from above the table). Next up. a stand for the Craigslist find tabletop. First we planed all the 2x4 stock -. Then used the router to clean up the dados. ).

Sunday, August 25, 2013. Shelf [part two. and done]. So today - with rain in the forecast (i.e. no skiing at Rainier) my backup plan was to finish this shelf (so I can move on to the next project. for which I have quite the list going but nothing narrowed down - though I'd love to build something else. ). Eventually after a couple of hours I had a nice pile of dadoed wood. And then. time to start putting this 6'x4' puzzle together! With hooks on the end for ice axes and poles and such. I am stupid-excite...

craftsman.: now we're cuttin' with gas!!
http://craftsman-in-progress.blogspot.com/2014/05/now-were-cuttin-with-gas.html
Saturday, May 10, 2014. Now we're cuttin' with gas! With the recent router upgrade. I knew a table saw upgrade was next. A table saw is one of those tools that pretty much any shop needs to have. and the ones I have owned have - well - have left something to be desired. Which has made it hard to either do some projects or - maybe worse - do them well. A 7" Black and Decker. Oddly - with less cut capacity on the right then the left. maybe this was the left-handed model? Rewind though a bit. According to F...

Monday, November 25, 2013. When Jeff and I were on our annual autumn holiday - this year visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks (luckily just days before the bleeping shutdown) - I made him stop at a kitchy corner gift shop in Jackson cos I noticed a really really awesome sign hanging in the window. Jeff didn't bother himself with actually accompanying me inside (I think sometimes it's cool to be a kitchy tourist! The mountains are calling and I must go'. Go climb a mountain'. And the real p...

craftsman.: a proper Easter.
http://craftsman-in-progress.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-proper-easter.html
Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Spent digging in the dirt, as should be done in Springtime. I dug out new flower beds along the fence and side of the yard while K planted - some heather, roses, Azaleas. Before a proper Springtime storm rolled in. We'll lay down the weed fabric, install the edging, and then make a truck run to the landscaping place in town to get a half yard of mulch and some pea gravel for the border. then hope none of the new plants wither away this summer. http://craftsman-in-progress.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. Time for a fence. So after we lost Whisper to the neighbor's dog, I took it upon myself to (maybe, at long last) build a fence. This temporary chicken wire one just wouldn't do -. Nor would the six-foot-tall behemoth fence Trevor built a few years ago -. I guess I was looking for something that would fit more with the style of the house. So I drafted up some plans in my trusty sketch book -. Back on the garage). Its first real project! A pile of 1x4s -. Then it was time to sta...
