Buy Nuclear Sunset in bottle. Scott wanted to call it “Nuclear Sunset” as a kind of nod to Britain’s Energy Coast. And the fact that we do get stunning sunsets here. I liked the name, but started to look for the theme, the angle, the story we would attach to the beer. I did not feel I wanted to release a beer called by the name without recognising the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In fact, it seems to me that they are part of the end of the last world war that is ignored too much.

Granite is our barley wine. We brew it once a year only. Every year the recipe is a little different, but based on the same basic specification: All the sugar is derived from whole grain from our mash tuns and the ABV should be just over 10%. So far there are two quite different vintages:. 2010 – new equipment enabled a shorter boil of only 8 hours. Far more like a standard barley wine, but we suspect will not develop as well. 2011 – will be extra special, get excited about it now.

Infra Red is an oxymoronic IPA. Of course we all know that IPAs should be pale, and made for India, and don’t get us started on the “A” word. Well, this beer has never been near India, or even near a ship. It isn’t pale, although at least it isn’t black, as it would clearly be silly to make a black IPA. Think about it, a black beer that uses a TLA. In which the P stands for pale? But this beer is at least. 8212;——. TLA = Three Letter Acronym. We’re only human. Æther Blæc – Aether Blaec. Bottle of Æther Blæc. Although various versions have differences there are some running themes in the flavours. This stout has strong roast coffee and bitter chocolate notes, a good dose of fruits of the forest and perhaps some burnt charcoal and ash hints. There is an inevitable vanilla theme from the oak although the levels are dependant on the particular cask and length of time spent there.
