Melk is famous for its Benedictine Monastery on the hill overlooking the village. The Monastery is vast with over 500 rooms. A nice relaxing morning making passage down the final section of the Canal to Regensburg and the Danube River which we made shortly after lunch. St Peter's, the cathedral here is an amazing building. Made of local sandstone which wears away relatively quickly, they have a permanent staff of 20 stone masons working on it. Brian and Jeanettes Travels. Sunday, 12 May 2013. UK and Rivers Day 37 and 38. Last day in Prague as tomorrow we are scheduled to check out of our Hotel at 4:30 am and start on our 33 hour homeward journey. Apart from Dinner, we have nothing scheduled today so we had a slow start to the day then did a little shopping and just wandered around admiring this beautiful city with its amazingly beautiful streets of Art Noveau and earlier buildings. Jeanette was particularly taken with this shop window display.

Brian and Jeanettes Travels. Wednesday, 8 May 2013. UK and Rivers Day 35. Up early again and we said goodbye to the Good Ship Scenic Jewel and boarded our bus to Prague. This turned out to be an eight and half hour journey through Austria then Slovenia and finally into the Czech Republic.
