Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day July 2014. Time again to look at what's in flower in my small Plymouth garden for Garden Bloggers' Bloom day. So, on July 15th 2014, here's some of what's in bloom. Patrick Synge' last month and it's now been joined by Abutilon. On the wall by the back gate is in full flower now. Pot grown and supported on a home made bamboo trellis, it scents the air for yards around. As does Brugmansia aurea. Lucifer', bright scarlet with Hemerocallis. Hot Lips' to thi...

John & Maria's Garden Pages: March 2014

Saturday, March 15, 2014. Garden Blogger's Blooms Day March 2014. Another 15th of the month and a chance to show what's flowering in my Plymouth garden for Garden Blogger's Blooms Day. We've had a very wet, but also quite mild winter. That, combined with some fine, sunny and - for the time of year - quite warm weather has really brought out some early spring flowers. Even my Magnolia. By the front door 'St Ewe' overtops my ever increasing shrub of the variegated Pieris. At ground level I remembered to cu...

Monday, July 15, 2013. Garden Blogger's Bloom Day July 2013. With little time for blogging recently (semi retired, hah! I'll have to be content with pictures rather than explanation for this Blooms day. Lots in flower at the height of summer. Here's a few highlights. Repeat flowering Hydrangea 'MMe Emile Mouillere'. A star pelargonium that overwintered outside in a window box. My large cordyline 'Coffee Cream' is flowering. The diminutive Freesia laxa. English rose 'Graham Thomas'. Links to this post.

http://johnrichmond100.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day January 2014. About time I started blogging again and what better way to return than another 15th of the month Garden Blogger's Blooms Day. It's bleak midwinter here in Plymouth. Cool, wet and, occasionally icy. No snow but we'll probably get some before winter's passage. I just hope it doesn't go on as long as last year. So, very little in flower, but what there is is interesting. Starting with my Camellia sasanqua. On the shed wall:. Has been flow...

John & Maria's Garden Pages: September 2014
http://johnrichmond100.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. In my last post I mentioned that I was a couple of days away from Hedychium gardnerianum. Flowering. It's now fully out - and looking spectacular. Fully mature spike of Hedychium gardnerianum. Kahili ginger, from the Himalayas in India, Nepal and Bhutan, has got to be one of the most exotic hardy(ish) perennial plants that can be grown in UK gardens. It's not quite as tough as H.coccineum. Maurelii'. Together they make a fantastic combination. Grows alongside Ensete ventricosum.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day October 2014. October 15th 2014 has rolled around damp and disgusting in my small Plymouth garden. Not conducive to getting out and certainly not suitable for photography. So it's a quick in and out session to see what's flowering and then relying on older photos to give you a flavour. Also in good flower are the yellow foliaged Fuchsia. Genii' and the old favourite 'Mrs Popple'. Fuchsia boliviensis alba. On the shed wall Clematis cirrhosa. Freckles...

Tuesday, April 7, 2015. In the front garden this morning. Links to this post. Labels: Magnolia Raspberry Ice. Sunday, April 5, 2015. I can't believe my last post on this blog was back in October last year. It's been a long and, at times, difficult Winter. Maria's been ill, and with that and work pressures I've not felt up to blogging. But that's hopefully behind us now and it's time to start again - even if it's just a short post. Little things - but pretty at a time of year when things are a bit bare an...
