Thursday, June 19, 2014. We sailed down the last few miles of the Main river until it enters the Rhine. We noticed quite a change in the size of the river and in its traffic. We bypassed Rudesheim but noticed many other cruise ships docked there. On our last Viking cruise, we stayed overnight there and it seemed to be a meeting place for ships coming from Amsterdam and going to Basel or reverse. He also explained that to make things "even" ships change places every 7 hours. So far that has NEVER happ...

Friday, June 20, 2014. We sailed to KinderDijk . Jim's fourth visit to this active museum about the windmills and water movement to reclaim land. Our guide was very good. But we got here early since we left from Dussoldorf and sat at the dock for a couple of hours before we could go on our tour. Not much else to do there. It rained for a few minutes during our tour. First rain for this part of our trip. We pack tonight and get a taxi tomorrow at 8 am to head to the airport. End. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Wednesday we travelled to the Orkney Islands. It was wet and the ferry was a little choppy. I did not suffer from sea sickness but others did. I must be getting my sea legs from all our cruises. We stopped at the Italian Chapel created by ww 2 Italian prisoners . Fantastic work. Saturday we toured Glasgow. Friday, May 30, 2014. We Have been impressed with our hotels. Previous castles or fancy hotels. Foxford woollen mills were interesting with all the bright colours in throws. No room in my luggage. Sligo walk and another castle that goes back to 1200's and has been partially restored. Wild views of Atlantic Ocean. Lord mountbatten's Ireland "house" seen from a distance. Friday, September 12, 2014. Tried writing yesterday but it would not publish. We did go to the Maritime museum. Great exhibitions on whales and whaling and it's effect on Holland , model sailboats, wedding dresses from 1800 and early 1900's, pottery, silver, and an East India full size boat to wander through.
