KAUMAHINA STATE WAYSIDE PARK. Kaumahina is Hawaiian for "Rising Moon." This is another great place to take a short break and stretch your legs. There are restrooms and there's a beautiful view of Ke'anae Peninsula just over at the railing. We'll be going to Ke'anae next, so this is a chance to get a picture of the peninsula from far away.

In the 1960's and 1970's, the Hippie movement found Pa'ia and took over, and then in the late 1970's, some young windsurfers discovered that the beaches around Pa'ia, Baldwin Beach Park and Ho'okipa, have the perfect conditions for windsurfing. Pa'ia came to be a Mecca for windsurfers and is also known as "the Windsurf Capital of the World.". It's also a favorite spot of country singer, Willie Nelson, who is known to frequent the restaurant Charley's when he is in town.

Sonntag, 7. Juni 2015. Jetzt sind wir schon seit Freitag wieder zurück in Deutschland, aber dennoch waren wir die letzten Tage auf Kauai nicht untätig. Dienstag hatten wir eine kleine Kanu Tour gebucht, welche uns ein wenig ins Landesinnere führte. Leider war das Kanu nicht groß genug um die große Kamera mitzunehmen, daher haben wir auch nur sehr wenige Bilder gemacht. Am Abend haben wir uns dann noch kurz eine Hawwaiianische Aufführung angesehen, die nahe unserer Unterkunft zum Besten gegeben wurde.
