Helen's journey to Japan. My once in a lifetime adventure to the World Scout Jamboree 2015. August 10, 2015. Day 17 – Hoho. Today was jam packed with all the things we got up to with the Adachi’s. This morning the family made us a Japanese breakfast including miso soup. After breakfast Yuki (Honuka’s mother) showed us a traditional green tea ceremony – we had a go too. We are now at the airport preparing for our departure from this amazing experience. This morning Eleanor and I cooked English breakfast for our host family including grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, eggy bread, bacon and sausages – we actually did an alright job considering the different cooking facilities! Helen's journey to Japan. My once in a lifetime adventure to the World Scout Jamboree 2015. August 10, 2015. Day 16 – travelling to HoHo. We woke up this morning at half past 4 feeling damp from the dew the night before because we’d been sleeping outside. I went for a quick shower and we then all packed up the final pieces of kit by delivering them to our crate. The Yamagata group took another train and when we arrived we had a short greeting ceremony in the train station before meeting our host family.

Helen's journey to Japan. My once in a lifetime adventure to the World Scout Jamboree 2015. August 5, 2015. Day 12 – Hiroshima Peace Programme. This morning we took the 6am coach to Hiroshima Memorial Park, on the way we watched a anime style film about where we were going and what had happened 70 years ago. When we first arrived we visited the crane memorial which was for a girl who’d died from leukaemia due to the A-bomb radiation, on behalf of our unit we donated 1000 cranes enough to make a wish.

Helen's journey to Japan. My once in a lifetime adventure to the World Scout Jamboree 2015. August 10, 2015. Day 15 – the last day on site. All day today we have been packing up and dropping tents ready for our departure very early tomorrow morning. Once all our tents were down we were given some free time to have a last walk around site and a trade. After the ceremony there were some fantastic fireworks which closed the show with a bang!
