Helping Hands of High Point, Inc. More of Our Story. Our Journey (Our Story). In 1994 our youngest son Ethan was diagnosed with Acute. Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Because of the vast amount of medical bills, we found ourselves struggling to pay bills and keep food on the table. A Good Samaritan named Barbara Harris with ties to a local food pantry began dropping food, literally, at our doorstep. Summer gets a lot of attention for vacations and fun, but this is also a time when worry can set in for many families that rely on school meals. Volunteers at Helping Hands Ministry in High Point are already preparing for the increased demand that comes during summer. Volunteers there are distributing meal packs specifically for summer.
