The Prairie Parsonage: It is Well with My Soul.
http://prairieparsonage.blogspot.com/2012/08/it-is-well-with-my-soul.html
Sunday, August 19, 2012. It is Well with My Soul. As time wore on, these songs were played less and less in churches. They became a thing of the past, like a discman, dial up internet, and my Beanie Baby collection. The problem for me was that many of these songs weren't just about personal taste (and as you can tell from my references above, I do have great taste) they were memories, markers of my spiritual journey. How many cried out to God in anguish while singing these very words? So, whether you are...

Jack Daniels | Embodying
https://embodying.wordpress.com/jack-daniels
In the spring of 2010 we added a new member of the family to the yellow house with the white trim. We named him Jack because…well, we can’t very well name our son Jack Daniels. But a dog? He’s a rescue animal. He was living all alone in a barn for a year or so and was rescued by someone who knew a lot about his particular breed. What breed is he? He’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The Church’s Boring SitCom. March 20, 2014. I like to watch TV. I probably like to watch too much TV, and so, while I’m not an expert, I’m just fat and lazy enough to have some credibility when it comes to explaining a few things about what comes across the screen. It wouldn’t work. It would be super boring, and here’s why:. 8220;I saw my boyfriend in a compromising situation. I think I’ll ask him about it. Perhaps there is a reasonable explanation for the whole thing.”. 8220;Dwight, we’ve worked w...

Cottonwood Tree | Embodying
https://embodying.wordpress.com/2014/06/10/cottonwood-tree
June 10, 2014. But you know what? I just happen to have a cottonwood tree – one I didn’t choose to plant, but one I love. I hope people will treat me kindly with my cottonwood tree; the same way I would hope people would treat someone with an alternate lifestyle. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Tax Me | Embodying
https://embodying.wordpress.com/2014/05/06/tax-me
May 6, 2014. This morning I voted. There was only one thing on the ballot: should we continue to be taxed to keep funding the public school. I know this is a gross simplification, but it’s how I read it. I voted, and while one of the things I love about America is that I don’t have to tell anyone how I voted, I’m going to tell you. “Tax Me! 8221; That’s how I voted. Can I tell you why? To my point. I vote to be taxed, and I send my kids to the public school, and I volunteer because these children (al...

An Easter Poem 2014. An Easter Poem 2014. April 19, 2014. The stone held the dead within itself. All was motionless, quiet a broken person within. The stone heard the first breath of life. Out of silence, the intake. The stone felt the brush of unraveled grave clothes land upon its insides. In darkness began to feel something of life stirring. The stone animated, shook, moved. When commanded to life obeying the Animator. The stone blinked open in the brightness of glory. And knew a secret. Join 1,087 oth...

Who? | Embodying
https://embodying.wordpress.com/who
There is a story of an ancient Hebrew rabbi who was traveling through Roman occupied territory in the time of day when the light is dim. As the rabbi approached a roman outpost he heard the voice of a sentry call out, “Who are you, and where are you going? 8221; He paused then responded, “I will pay you twice what you’re currently getting paid to stand outside my door and aske me that every day.”. So, who do you think you are, anyway? In Stanwood, Washington in 1994 then on to Northwestern College. I hav...

How Jeter Helps Us… | Embodying

Uncategorized How Jeter Helps Us…. How Jeter Helps Us…. September 26, 2014. Ok, admittedly, I am a baseball fan. I could watch baseball all day, then turn on the lights on the back porch and play catch with my son until one of us gets hit in the face. But despite that fact, I think I can be a little impartial in saying that Derek Jeter is helping the United States stay human. (And I’m not a Yankees fan…at all.). And if so, why? September 26, 2014 at 10:55 am. Love this, Jim! You are a really great writer!
