Col de Brenac - Trail to Quillan

This mysterious cross from 1832 - right at the start of the walk. A view down to Brenac as the trail climbs upwards. La Chapelle is on the right hand edge just beside those tall conifers at the cemetery. The route is well signposted. Col de Brenac and the Belvedere du Roc de Capio. The view point Nez de l homme - the nose of the man had this lovely cairn made as an arch. The limestone is quite magnificent up here. Sharp and lots of holes and cracks - a mini karst scenery. Views were good as well.

What to do in Carcassonne if you do not have a car? We often have guests who come for a simple and value for money holiday. They book a low cost flight with Ryan air, take the airport bus to the central station and then take the 5 minute walk alongside the canal du midi. The Walled City - La Cite. This is the part of Carcassonne which everyone comes to see. This is the UNESCO site with those magnificent walls and views. This picture shows the view as you look towards the pedestrian bridge which you walk across from the old town on the way to La Cite. Image attribution is at the bottom of this page.
