1 Turn the engine to TDC for No 1 Cylinder. Turn Engine Anti Clockwise Only). Align 'T' Mark with pointer on Flywheel). Check alignment of TDC No1 mark on Camshaft sprocket. Note position of Camshaft sensor pickup). Check Valve clearances for No1 cylinder. Inlet 0.13-0.17mm. Exhaust 0.23-0.27mm. Continue for Cylinders 3 and 2.

As you may have found Japan uses different FM radio frequency (76-90) to Australia (88-108). There is a solution for this, a convert sometimes referred to as band expander or frequency shifter . These change the incoming radio frequency by 20, so for example, your radio shows 81.7 but receives a station on 101.7. These a readily available on Ebay, many coming from the UK. Most Jap imports will have had one of these fitted long ago so test your radio before buying one. Return to Home Page.

Beat Igntion Timing

Check and Adjust Beat Ignition Timing. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. (allow fan to come on once). Allow engine to idle (idle speed 1200rpm). Attach Strobe Timing light and point at Timing Mark viewing hole on clutch housing. Check alignment of timing marks. Red mark (20 degrees BTDC) aligns with pointer. Adjust accordingly by slakening Distibutor retaining bolt and rotating the Distributor. Retightening bolt once correct. Remove service connector bridge once done.

Radio Repairs

Click on a pic to enlarge. Start by removing the two screws hidden just beneath the carpet, there is one on either side. These are the only things holding the radio in! You may want to remove the gear knob too, and tape the shaft with something soft (duster, towel etc) to prevent scratching. you can also select reverse to give more clearence, you'll need it! If you can reach around behind the radio, you need to remove the 2 (or 3 if cd is fitted) plugs. see next pic! So flip it over and you will see.
