September 29, 2008 • 9:37 pm. The dark side of citizen empowerment (Part 2) – a cautionary tale. If he was a bit naughty in his car, he’d make a real song and dance about ’fessing up to who was actually driving. There had to be pictures. Of his face. If not, he’d write long letters inevitably quoting the Human Rights Act. Stopped by the coppers in Waterloo? Ah, that was a bit different. Everything had to be open. Without compromise. If the government had it (or he thought they had it) he want...Consumer ...

June 15, 2009 • 5:46 pm. Tweetbike – the last word (for now). Or what this social experiment was actually about…. The scene-setting post is here. 8211; but briefly, it was a last-minute experiment in real-time, self-organising social travel during a time of disruption. I monitored, and updated, the #tweetbike. You need to sign in to see the tweet stream, sorry] hashtag to see how well an impromptu, free biketaxi service would work during the Tube strike. Why did I do it? Why did I really do it? A slow st...

Is #digieng being livestreamed @10alps? Digitalengagement … anyone? Is it the “elite” attending #DigiEng Conference, or did the tickets prices reduce to under 100 from 895. February 4, 2009 • 11:40 pm. An interesting few days. Saturday spent with like-minded public information enthusiasts exploring new ways of using and reusing information here. Not just for the sake of it, but in pursuit of better services, engagement and communities. Sunday, resting and getting over it, this. Happens while I’m making lunch. A real-life case study in the power of information unfolding as I watched. Monday, trying to forget about the snow this. And Tuesday, this. Blimey, what’s going on?

So Tyred: Sat Nav
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2008/12/sat-nav.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Saturday, 17 May 2008. My new sat nav arrived today. Sat Nav for a bike? Well yes but as a training aid more recording where you have been that where you are going! It's one of these:. And here's the blurb on what it does:. Easy to install; no calibration required. Just snap it into the bike mount and go. Virtual Partner lets you race a virtual competitor over a specified distance and speed. Edge 305 heart rate — m...
So Tyred: Sunday Ramblings
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2010/01/sunday-ramblings.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Sunday, 24 January 2010. Another good training ride and back to something like my normal speed over my 26 mile training ride. I am now starting to get itchy feet, or should that be pedals, and after the bad weather layoff want to line up a longer ride. I’ll have to wait a couple of weeks though as life is going to get in the way of cycling. Congratulations to Team Sky. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Number One Fan.

The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Wednesday, 30 December 2009. Fitness basics: Turbo training. I have said it before but now is the time to get the turbo trainer out. There is not a good day's weather in sight and I am starting to feel sluggish and the need to get out on the bike. So this is probably the next best thing. Fitness basics: Turbo training. By Leanda Cave and Nik Cook. Fitness basics: Turbo training (Dave Atkinson). If you want to spend the m...
So Tyred: Happy days are here again
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2010/01/happy-days-are-here-again.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Sunday, 17 January 2010. Happy days are here again. Ahh what joy to be out on my bike again today after a snow enforced lay-off. I was actually singing out loud at one point. Five weeks of no-road cycling has taken its toll though. My time over my 26 mile training course was down by a full five minutes – bad! A run for its money. Trouble is, she doesn’t stop when she gets to the cycle lane (there is a small ker...And the...
So Tyred: Britain’s shortest cycle lane - all 8 feet of it.
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2010/04/britains-shortest-cycle-lane-all-8-feet.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Sunday, 4 April 2010. Britain’s shortest cycle lane - all 8 feet of it. This got a lot of media coverage like all things ridiculous so. But I thought I would also record it for prosperity anyway. At little more than the length of a single bicycle, the £2,000 road marking has left cyclists in Cardiff bemused. The feature, thought to be the shortest cycle lane in Britain, has been installed to encourage green transport.
So Tyred: A Year Ago
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2009/12/year-ago.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Sunday, 6 December 2009. It’s hard to believe that it was 12 months ago that I crashed out. On ice and broke my elbow. Mind you, looking out of the window today with the rain poring down and the wind blowing, I would rather be out there in the cold, trying to avoid ice than stuck inside with the utterly boring purgatory that is otherwise called a turbo trainer. http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2010/03/35-miles-and-growing.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Sunday, 28 March 2010. 35 Miles and Growing. That was a great ride I had today. I am slowly pushing the distance back up again and covered 35 miles. I am doing this by the book this time round and adding 10% to the distance each time I go out. That should give me plenty of time to get up 60 miles before the Essex Countryside Ride. For the Little Havens children’s hospice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This is my 13...

The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Saturday, 3 April 2010. Four weeks and counting. It is time to forget about fair weather cycling and get out there no matter what. With four weeks to go until the Essex Countrysid. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Britain’s shortest cycle lane - all 8 feet of it. Four weeks and counting. My Number One Fan. So Tyred: 40 miles done
http://sotyred.blogspot.com/2010/04/40-miles-done.html
The life and times of my cycling diary and a few random thoughts I had while riding. Monday, 5 April 2010. Another great ride today. My training is on course with 40 miles done. I was also very pleased that I maintained last week’s average of 14.5 mph. And that was with battling through 20 mph headwinds gusting as hard as 32 mph. Looking good for the 60 mile Essex Countryside Ride. Now for a nice hot shower. Thanks for sharing this nice post! 29 October 2014 at 14:26. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Monday, April 29, 2013. It's been over three months since my last blog post, oops! I don't think I have three months worth of randomness to make up for it, but I can try!
