The demolition started on the outbuildings in early May 2005 and progressed well. There were some initial concerns that the underlying chalk would be soft and that additional foundations would be needed or that a spring would be discovered. Below is a photo collection, in no special order (I'll sort them sometime.). The 'Shed' slab going down. The hole in the foreground is the wine cellar. The 'Shed' (44 sq metres roof storage). Well, no surprise, due to all the additional underpinning, archaeology and holidays, we're running about 9 weeks behind where we'd ideally be. The good news is that things are going up rather than down. The base foundations which will be under the main slab. (0109). End gable rebuilt and the foundations. More shots of the foundations. Frame Construction

After weeks of work off site, at last the on-site construction of the frame begins. As always, the weather intervenes and after weeks of almost no rain the construction starts in a downpour! On the 11th November the second round started, this time without the rain but with high winds. This didn't stop the team and all of the main timbers are in now place. The main floor joist are in, allowing easier access to the first floor and one can now get a much better picture of the finished room sizes.
