2013: Thankfulness in Review. The Changes They are A-Comin’ {New Blog Launch Date! What to Expect in 2014. January 6, 2014. New Year’s was pretty low key for us. I spent the evening at a friend’s party while the hubby worked. Then, I headed home at 1030 to watch the New Year in with him. We discussed goals and desires for the New Year. I don’t like to call them resolutions. That sounds like a death sentence. Who actually accomplishes their resolutions? The hubby and I are both finding ourselves in a bit ...

Newer posts →. October 25, 2013. Recently, a friend of mine gave voice on his Facebook page to a frustration common to many of us (male and female)–how pop culture and advertising skew our idea of healthy body image. He finished his comment with this statement:. Don’t believe that your natural self is shameful, gross, or inappropriate! No man-made product can improve what God gave you! There is no need to hide behind that stuff. Let’s learn to respect what’s natural. Real women have curves! As a broad sh...

Sometimes, I signup to try new things and then forget about them. Graze. Is one of those things. An advertisement for a free Graze box popped up in my Facebook newsfeed last month. Graze Subscription Boxes: A Review and a Few Referral Codes. My New Specs: A Rivet and Sway Review →. Holiday Prettiness and Birthday Celebrations. December 9, 2013. This week was all about getting ready for Christmas and celebrating my little bro’s 24th. As usual, the hubby pointed his camera at me. Somehow, we have way more picture of me than him . . . . I have some blackmail photos from the evening, but for the sake of my little bro and his friends, we’ll stick with pictures of the cake. You are comme...

My New Specs: A Rivet and Sway Review. What to Expect in 2014 →. 2013: Thankfulness in Review. December 31, 2013. I’m not usually one for New Year’s Resolutions. I figure, if you can’t resolve to do something any other day of the year, what difference does January 1 make? 1) My new boots. I live in a snowy, cold city with lots of walking required. Boots are a must. This December, my husband was able to score 3 pairs of LL Bean boots for $21. Yup. My feet are very warm and blessed. 2) My new nephew. Sadly...

Holiday Prettiness and Birthday Celebrations. 2013: Thankfulness in Review →. My New Specs: A Rivet and Sway Review. December 28, 2013. I’m not usually one for wearing glasses as an everyday thing. My vision is bad enough that I need some sort of eye correction, but I usually go the contacts route. That, however, has now changed. Earlier this month, after a prolonged search for new glasses (mine were old, unflattering, and scratched up), I discovered Rivet and Sway. When you place an order, the frames ar...

On new jobs and girls of the woods. In an Instagram post. Kater from all this happiness. Described her outfit as "girl of the woods goes to the mall," and I feel like that's the direction I'm headed in these days. Cable knit sweaters, well-worn boots, oversized button-downs, and lots of rich, earthy colors. Thrifted sweater (borrowed from my sister). Vintage velvet skirt purchased at a church rummage sale. Vintage Paris souvenir bracelet purchased at a yard sale. 1920's barkcloth tote via Demure Folk.

Love letter to Squirrel Hill. My sister and I were on our way to Starbucks when we spotted these hydrangeas along our street. We immediately went back to our apartment for my camera (we're ridiculous like that), then spent a few minutes taking photos. And it's a good thing we did, because a day or so later, a heavy rainstorm left the flowers looking pretty sad. What do you like best about where you live? Labels: I [heart] Pittsburgh.
