Effects of Japan's Nuclear Radiation on China Travel. Are there any effects from Japan's nuclear fallout affecting China Travel? According to a Central Weather Bureau (CWB) report, currently no nuclear radiation will travel from Japan due to a strong northeast monsoon. What is the status of Swine Flu in China? There are no confirmed cases of Swine Flu in China so far and no reports of the virus being found in pigs in latest control tests. There are however, no guarantees that China will not be affected. Yangtze River Dam to reach full capacity for the first time. The Yangtze River Three Gorges Dam Project is expected to raise the water level to its maximum target of 175 meters (575 feet) for the first time this week. Although it has worked at nearly full capacity for the past year, water levels had stopped short of the 175 meter maximum target due to droughts and other factors in the lower reaches. Chinese New Year Traditions - Putting Away Knives! Is it permissible to prepare dinner on New years Day provided all the ingredients were pre cut the day before,so as not to use knives etc.". Superstitions dictate that all food must be prepared ahead of time and all knives must be put away. Using a knife during the first days of the New Year "cuts off" all the good luck for the coming year. So yes, you can prepare dinner on New Year's Day when all your igredients have been pre-cut the day before!
