Hot Child in the Country. Musings from a city girl about her new and different surroundings. May 7, 2015. As much as we are enjoying our new digs, I have to say, there are some complaints…. 1 The way the moonlight reflects off of the river and into our bedroom at night… it’s very distracting when you’re trying to sleep! 2 The family of 6 deer who used to visit daily have stopped coming by since the snow melted because, we suspect, they are now able to find food by the creek and in the forest behind us.

The move was not without it’s challenges, but after unpacking about a billion boxes, we are finally starting to feel like we are home. It combines some of the elements we love of older homes that give character (large baseboards and trim, natural wood and stone) with some more modern elements (leathered granite kitchen counter tops).
