Born in a Kenyan prison, I stowed away to the United States in a bag of giraffes (yes, they ship them in bags) when I was 3. After hitching to NC, I convinced a couple to take me in as their own. Eventually, I graduated from Jordan High School, Duke University, and then got my Ph.D. from Ball State in Pilates. View my complete profile. Villa la Angostura and beyond.

The students seem friendly and laugh at my jokes when they understand them. Last night,...

I hope I don't need dress clothes, because mine are still scrunched in my suitcase. I happily spent the last week walking around different parts of Buenos Aires and hanging out with friends. Last night, though, it started to rain. I thought that I had seen rain in Salta. A few weeks ago, it snow/drizzled. And there have been other drippy days. But last night it actually rained. I have very little tolerance for the keyboard I am using, and now that my parents took my computer, I unfortunately have little choice. So excuse typos and less-than-stellar wording. But they still count. I will write a more reflective entry when I get back to the US. For now, I am satisfied with what I have done and am trying to get ready for what comes next. What does come next? Posted by Jonas at 6:06 PM.

My name is Jonas. A blog about adventure and heroism in Argentina. Tuesday, June 28, 2005. My personal cleanliness is not really what is in question. I am fairly certain that I could- in an ideal world- be showering a little more often. Cultural norms and germ immunity aside, the incident at the kiosk violated my germphobic comfort zone. If she wants to use my straw and catch my diseases, fine, but shouldn't the woman at the kiosk have given me a new straw after she used it? Posted by Jonas at 9:27 PM.
