Antique Richborough: December 2014
http://mgredwins.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, 21 December 2014. After a rather unecumenical post, here is better news. The Service of Lessons and Carols today was led by an augmented choir; our own little group, together with singers from other churches, Anglican and Catholic. Shared lunch - a great time for meeting. Our Organist, Peter Cook, sported his plum jacket for the occasion - you can see him on the right responding to tricky musical questions over lunch. One of our visitors joined the washing-up brigade - he can certainly come again!

Lone Star Parson: Pet Lion Sold For Body Parts!!
http://lonestarparson.blogspot.com/2015/07/pet-lion-sold-for-body-parts.html
God, Guns, Church and Country Life in Texas. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Pet Lion Sold For Body Parts! Everyone's favorite pet lion, Cecil, has been shot by a vicious white cash hunter, and sold for body parts. The world is enraged. Cecil's vital organs can be bought for just:. So go on, take your pick. It's just "tissue." And if you think our new normal resembles Soylent Green, but only a lot sicker, well, maybe you have a point. And remember this, Soylent Green is made out of people. The world is insane.

Aspicientes in Jesum: The Church and the Internet
http://valleadurni.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-church-and-internet.html
Thursday, 22 May 2014. The Church and the Internet. Something sensible from a bishop on the subject of the Internet, blogs and all that. In this case, it is the coadjutor archbishop of Armagh, Eamon Martin, who includes in his talk. A sensible list of 'commandments' for Catholics engaging in the e-apostolate. H/T The Catholic Herald. 2 Strictly avoid aggression and ‘preachiness’ online; try not to be judgemental or polemical – goodness knows, there is enough of this online already! 10 Be missionary, be a...

Aspicientes in Jesum: Brothers
http://valleadurni.blogspot.com/2014/05/brotherly-love.html
Monday, 26 May 2014. I have just watched a recording of the meeting between Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew in Jerusalem. You can watch it here; there is no commentary or translation, though a lot of it is in English, and though the Holy Father spoke in Italian, there is a translation here. You will need to skip over the first part; for a long time there are security men scuttling around doing not a lot. The Patriarch had clearly noticed it, too, and decided to do something about it himself:.

Aspicientes in Jesum: Going scarlet
http://valleadurni.blogspot.com/2014/01/going-scarlet.html
Sunday, 26 January 2014. From last week's Tablet, about one of the new Cardinal-designates, Fernando Sebastián Aguilar, former Archbishop of Pamplona, lauded by the writer as a theologian:. Robert Mickens, Letter from Rome, The Tablet,. Words fail me. And if they cease to fail me, I think that probably I would never stop writing. Is this really the ultimate boast of a Vatican II theologian, that he uses nothing but EPII, even though most of the Latin world does likewise? And as for the rest…. Ive never l...

Antique Richborough: Wales, Wales
http://mgredwins.blogspot.com/2015/07/wales-wales.html
Sunday, 12 July 2015. West end of the church rebuilt recently, where the Galilee Chapel once stood. Rood stairs in the ancient parish church. A couple of years ago I had the privilege of celebrating Mass in today's Catholic Church in Llantwit; a very workaday building, but one which is loved and [better still] is well attended. God Save King James . over an arch in Llantwit. 20th century Rood against mediaeval wall painting. Torbay's Ordinariate (former Methodist) Church. Fr Hunwicke's Mutual Enrichment.

Antique Richborough: Perseverance
http://mgredwins.blogspot.com/2015/05/perseverance.html
Tuesday, 12 May 2015. A fragment of farmland within a half mile of Hemel's estates. A classroom in not an ideal meeting-place; but better than nowhere. Pray for the Hemel Ordinariate. Unless there is a relaxation in this insistence, the Ordinariate is doomed to die out within a generation and Pope Benedict's vision will have been frustrated. Surely the Ordinariate must be able to produce and ordain its own men? The argument appears to be that Anglicanorum Coetibus was designed for Groups.

Lone Star Parson: Get Out And Shoot
http://lonestarparson.blogspot.com/2015/08/get-out-and-shoot.html
God, Guns, Church and Country Life in Texas. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Get Out And Shoot. Some people think that Texas is quite hot in August and perhaps it is, but that doesn't mean you can't go out and shoot, which is what we did. And then some more. Until the shotgun needed some surgery. Gun fixed, we shot some more of the clay opposition, then turned to the ARs and blasted away. Green terrs down, the shoot concluded with a bit of pistol action, and that was fun too. Beretta PX4 Storm .45 ACP. It was ...

Lone Star Parson: Ride On
http://lonestarparson.blogspot.com/2015/08/ride-on.html
God, Guns, Church and Country Life in Texas. Friday, August 7, 2015. I took the Team out for a ride near Waco, where the Colonel has a squadron of Arabians. They were a little tricky to catch at first but came around soon enough to the lure of feed in a bucket. It was good to be back in the saddle again and the kids had a fine time galloping about. I took the youngest on a short trail ride through some woods on the acreage, where we saw a snake eat a mouse. Your Beacon of Tolerance,. Dont be a lib. Theyr...
