This was a spur-. Ment, so we decided to introduce Greg to the world of stand-by travel by flying to Anchorage and then traveling down to Seward on the Kenai Peninsula. Larry raised his bidding paddle at the charity auction and - what do you know? We drove for miles on excellent, smooth highways through sugar cane farms stretching as far as the eye could see. Then there were vast acres of tall, straight trees having been planted in neat rows. Our driver informed us that they were eucalyptus trees grown for fence posts, paper and some structural uses. You know it's going to be cold if that happens! Another drink that we always love is the fruit juice that is served in Bali. Rather than strain it, they blend up fresh fruit to make a smoothie-type of pure, fresh fruit. What a delightful way to get your vitamins! Nothing could be finer than sipping on a tall pineapple or watermelon juice while lounging under a palapa on the beach!

We flew out of sunny California to Atlanta and then on to Lima, Peru. It was a long flight, arriving rather late at night. A representative from Traveland tour company met us at the impressively nice airport and we waited a few minutes to collect several other people in our group who arrived on the same flight. Our Seattle friends Peter and Carol were the only other people we knew at that time.
