http://debrakemp.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
What Would Lin Do? Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Finding your characters come to life while shopping. Gareth of Orkney works at our local Meijer! Well, at least as I see the character. Same shoulder-length, straight, dark blonde hair. Tied back in a ponytail, with the front strands falling free. Everything about his face was just as I see Gareth when I’m writing. I even got to see him twice while I was shopping. Makes me want to make up excuses to shop there. Oh! Debra A. Kemp. Debra kemp. fiction.

Modern Prometheus: Darwinian Theory
http://modern-prometheus.blogspot.com/2008/04/darwinian-theory.html
Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Only one essay this week! And Winterson's work is always filled with science, so the next two sections should be quite fun for me. Today's presentation, I thought, was one of the best this semester and I will definitely be giving The Literary Animal. A read this summer! D T Max basically explains to the readers of the New York Times. As Winterson wrote in Lighthousekeeping. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. IWG: Indy Writer's Group. Modern Prometheus: Eco-Criticism
http://modern-prometheus.blogspot.com/2008/04/eco-criticism.html
Tuesday, April 22, 2008. And no essay to read this week! However, I found the essay by Michael P. Branch. Of the Univeristy of Nevada's. Studies in Literature and the Environment kind of exciting. Not so much the essay, but the idea that Literary Studies is branching out into these new fields. Where are we headed? It's anybody's guess. More Cultural Studies for a while, I think. More integration into other departments like Science, History, Politics. All good things, in my opinion. My Own New Discovery:.

Modern Prometheus: Cultural Studies
http://modern-prometheus.blogspot.com/2008/04/cultural-studies.html
Tuesday, April 22, 2008. I admit I love. I think discussions of culture when considering any text is unavoidable. How else can you make it relevant to students/readers? And discussion of culture can only enrich the reading, in my opinion. Though I admit that the emphasis on film, rather than the text, disturbs me a little. Most especially in the Margollis essay where Shelley's book was rendered all but irrelevant (her students didn't even read it! Something is provided for all that none may escape".

Modern Prometheus: February 2008
http://modern-prometheus.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Given my interest in intertextuality, particularly as it relates to new technology and hypertext, I was most interested in Jean Baudrllard's ideas on simulacra, simulation and the hyperreal. It is no wonder, as our instructor said in class, that his ideas are controversial. As Baudrillard points out,. It is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate the fact that there is nothing behing them.". Consequently, we feel adrift in this brave new world. Scary, isn't it?
